Conserve Water: Hillsborough County Faces Storm-Related Pumping Issues

Hillsborough County officials are calling on residents to conserve water following Hurricane Milton’s heavy rains and strong winds. Though the county’s drinking water system remains operational, widespread power outages are affecting regional water pumping capabilities.
The county's Water Resources department is asking residents to limit water use to essential needs, such as drinking and sanitation, in an effort to prevent sewer overflows and backups into homes.

Tropicana Field Roof Ripped Off by Hurricane Milton’s Winds
Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 storm, made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, tearing off the roof of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The stadium had been a staging area for hundreds of Florida National Guardsmen and electrical workers preparing for the storm.
Earlier this week, cots filled the baseball field as the facility served as a temporary shelter. However, all personnel were safely relocated to Ocala before Milton hit.
St. Pete Fire Rescue confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, and essential personnel have been accounted for.
