Tampa Bay Loses a Media Giant: Rob Lorei Dies at 70

Rob Lorei, a foundational figure in Tampa Bay journalism and co-founder of WMNF Community Radio, has died at age 70 after battling cancer.
Lorei was a respected voice in public media, hosting WEDU’s Florida This Week for nearly 24 years. Known for fostering civil, balanced political debate, he stepped down in March after revealing his diagnosis.
Lorei co-founded WMNF in 1979, serving as News Director until 2021. His show Radioactivity was a staple of local public affairs programming.
He weathered two firings from WMNF — one in 2019 (later reversed) and another in 2021 that drew public outcry. Despite controversy, Lorei remained admired for his integrity, professionalism, and commitment to underrepresented voices.
Tributes poured in from colleagues, listeners, and elected officials. One described him as “a trustworthy voice in our wilderness.”
Lorei’s legacy continues to shape local journalism in Tampa Bay.
Tampa & Wesley Chapel’s Bachelor Duo Split, But Still Close Friends

Tampa’s Sean McLaughlin and Wesley Chapel’s Allyshia Gupta, two of the most talked-about contestants on Bachelor in Paradise Season 10, have officially parted ways romantically—but remain close.
Reality Steve confirmed the breakup in August 2025, shortly after filming wrapped. Despite the split, Allyshia told Us Weekly the pair are still in touch: “We like to have fun with it... I was FaceTiming him before this interview.”
Both earned strong reactions from viewers—Allyshia for trying to break up an established couple, and Sean for manipulating votes under the new elimination format. Still, the local duo continue to follow each other on social media.
While Sean maintains a friendly relationship with Allyshia, his rapport with other cast members has soured. Andrew Spencer even dubbed him the “greatest Bachelor in Paradise villain of all time.”
You can stream Bachelor in Paradise Season 10 now on Hulu.

Having performed in prestigious venues across Europe and beyond, the duo brings their unique synergy to Tampa Bay, offering an unforgettable musical experience.
This one-day-only performance is a must-see for classical enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Presented by CAM, the Steinway Piano Series continues to elevate the region’s cultural landscape with world-class performances in an intimate setting.

Shilo Sanders' NFL Future in Tampa on the Line

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie safety Shilo Sanders made headlines in his NFL preseason debut—but a weaker showing in game two has put his 53-man roster hopes in question.
Sanders, son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, impressed early with a standout performance against the Titans, recording a solo tackle and a viral quarterback hit in his first series. Head coach Todd Bowles praised his toughness and noted his pressure and coverage skills.
But in his second game, a 17-14 win over Pittsburgh, Sanders missed two tackles and struggled to make a lasting impact.
With the Bucs' safety room hit by injuries, Sanders has one final shot—a preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 23—to prove he belongs on the roster.
A strong finish could secure his spot, while another stumble might cut his NFL dreams short—for now.
