Tampa Named 5th Best U.S. City to Retire,
Says WalletHub

Tampa has been ranked the 5th best city in the U.S. to retire, according to a new WalletHub survey evaluating 180+ cities across 45 key metrics related to retiree quality of life.
Top five cities included:
Orlando, FL
Scottsdale, AZ
Minneapolis, MN
Miami, FL
Tampa, FL
WalletHub considered factors like cost of living, tax-friendliness, availability of healthcare, and access to recreational activities. According to analyst Chip Lupo, retirees benefit most in cities that reduce expenses and offer income opportunities, quality care, and leisure options.
Orlando topped the list due to its lack of state income tax and affordability in home services.
Tampa’s strong showing reflects its affordable healthcare, sunny climate, and robust retiree resources.

Love Story Revives World's Oldest Drive-In Theater

A real-life romance has brought new life to the world’s oldest operating drive-in theater — Shankweiler’s Drive-In in Orefield, Pennsylvania, which opened in 1934.
Lauren McChesney and Matt McClanahan met at a drive-in in 2018, got engaged in August 2025, and now co-own this historic venue. Their journey started during a road trip visiting abandoned and active drive-ins, when they discovered Shankweiler’s was up for sale.
Instead of building a new theater, they secured a $1 million loan and bought the site in 2022, saving it from likely redevelopment.
Once one of over 4,000 U.S. drive-ins in the 1950s, only 283 remain today. The couple has transformed the theater into a thriving business, open year-round, offering theme nights, blockbusters, and nostalgic charm.
“I actually thanked them,” said one longtime patron. “It’s wonderful to have an old-school venue like this still going.”

Historic Loss to USF Rocks Florida Football

The Florida Gators suffered a shocking 18-16 loss to USF, marking their first-ever defeat to the Bulls and possibly the worst of the Billy Napier era.
The Gators, ranked No. 13, were plagued by sloppy play, penalties (11 for 103 yards), and missed red-zone chances. Despite leading late, Florida gave up a game-winning drive after burning just 27 seconds on their final possession.
Quarterback DJ Lagway took blame for poor late-game decisions. A critical unsportsmanlike penalty and a botched punt added to the unraveling.
Napier, now 20-20 as head coach, acknowledged results must improve amid a brutal remaining schedule featuring eight Top 25 teams.
“Not good enough, and it’s my responsibility,” he said postgame.
Unless a turnaround begins soon, this loss may mark the beginning of the end for Napier at Florida.
U.S. Men’s Soccer Team to Play Uruguay in Tampa Ahead of 2026 World Cup

The U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) will face Uruguay on Nov. 18 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa as part of their final tune-up matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The game will follow a Nov. 15 friendly against Paraguay in Chester, Pennsylvania, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced Saturday.
Uruguay and Paraguay have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup, while the United States has an automatic berth as one of the tournament’s co-hosts.
These matches are part of a broader slate of friendlies, including recent or upcoming games against South Korea, Japan, Ecuador, and Australia, as new head coach Mauricio Pochettino prepares the squad for next June.
Two additional friendlies are expected in March 2026, ahead of the final World Cup training camp.
The Tampa match marks a significant opportunity for fans to see Christian Pulisic and the USMNT take on a top South American squad at home.
