Rays’ New Era Begins: Here’s How to Watch Tuesday’s Presser

Patrick Zalupski, founder of Dream Finders Homes, will serve as managing partner and co-chair, joined by Bill Cosgrove (Union Home Mortgage CEO) and Ken Babby, a minor league team owner, who will serve as CEO. The trio finalized the franchise purchase last week.

Fans can watch the 11:30 a.m. event on 10 Tampa Bay+, streaming via Roku, Amazon Fire, or Apple TV.

Longtime baseball exec Erik Neander remains president of baseball ops, but Matt Silverman and Brian Auld step down, with Auld staying on as senior adviser.

While the team is temporarily playing at Steinbrenner Field, they’re slated to return to Tropicana Field in 2026 once repairs from Hurricane Milton are completed.

Ownership has not ruled out exploring new stadium options — including a potential move to Tampa.

Lunar Glow-Up: October Supermoon to Light Up
the Sky

Oops, a day late; again tonight?

The first supermoon of 2025 will rise Monday night, appearing up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a typical full moon, according to NASA.

October’s full moon marks the first of three supermoons this year, caused when the moon reaches its closest point to Earth in orbit — roughly 224,600 miles away. While striking, the difference can be subtle unless you're closely observing it across multiple nights.

“It’s not really very unusual,” noted Franklin Institute astronomer Derrick Pitts, but it’s still a treat for skywatchers.

No special equipment is needed to see the supermoon — just clear skies. The next two supermoons are set for November and December.

Looking ahead to 2026, the moon show continues with two lunar eclipses: a total eclipse in March visible across North America, Asia, and Australia, and a partial eclipse in August over the Americas, Africa, and Europe.

Keep your eyes up. The best time to view? Just after moonrise.

“One of One”: Egbuka Emerges as Bucs’ Rookie Game-Changer

Once seen as a “luxury pick,” Emeka Egbuka has become essential to the Buccaneers' success amid injuries to star receivers.

The rookie wideout has delivered a historic start to his NFL career, with at least 25 catches, 400 yards, and 5 touchdowns through five games — a league first. In Sunday’s 38-35 win over the Seahawks, Egbuka posted 163 yards and a touchdown, including multiple third-down conversions and a game-tying drive spark.

Baker Mayfield, now thriving in his third season with Tampa Bay, calls Egbuka “one of one.” With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan sidelined, the rookie has stepped up as Mayfield’s go-to weapon.

Egbuka's combination of polished route-running, high football IQ, and poise under pressure is turning heads. The Tacoma native even executed a pregame adjustment discussed with Mayfield to perfection, showing rare maturity.

“He’s grounded, intentional, and just doesn’t play like a rookie,” Mayfield said.

$125K in Fines, Suspensions After Preseason Chaos
in Tampa

The NHL dropped the hammer on the Tampa Bay Lightning after a chaotic preseason brawl with the Florida Panthers resulted in over 300 penalty minutes and 16 ejections.

Four Lightning players were disciplined: Scott Sabourin received a four-game suspension for punching Aaron Ekblad; J.J. Moser was handed two games for boarding. Roman Schmidt and Gage Goncalves received maximum fines for cross-checking. Additionally, head coach Jon Cooper was fined $25,000, while the Lightning organization was docked $100,000.

The game — a 7-0 blowout win for the Panthers — was the second brawl-filled meeting between the two rivals in three days. A Thursday match also saw 186 penalty minutes.

To make matters more bizarre, an eighth Panthers goal was wiped out after a player illegally returned to the ice after ejection.

The rivalry resumes Nov. 15, with three more regular-season games to follow.

Tensions are high — and the season hasn’t even started.
