Speeding Driver Hits Bar Crowd: 4 Killed, 13 Injured

Silas Sampson, 22, will remain in jail until Thursday after being charged with four counts of vehicular homicide and aggravated fleeing in Saturday’s deadly Ybor City crash.

The crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. when Sampson’s vehicle, previously seen street racing, slammed into Bradley’s on 7th, killing four people and injuring 13 others.

Florida Highway Patrol said a pursuit was attempted but terminated three blocks before the crash. The vehicle struck several patrons outside the bar.

Among the injured, two remain in critical condition, with others in stable or minor condition.

Sampson, who had a prior speeding citation in September, was armed and fled from law enforcement before the collision. He was arrested at the scene.

FHP is asking any witnesses to contact them at FHP (347).

A candlelight vigil will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bradley’s to honor the victims.

Feline Virus Outbreak Prompts Shelter Quarantine
in Tampa

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) has paused all stray cat and kitten intakes through November 21 due to an outbreak of feline panleukopenia, a highly contagious and often fatal virus.

This temporary quarantine, which began Friday, is in response to a surge in severe cases of the disease, also known as feline distemper, which particularly affects young, unvaccinated, or immunocompromised kittens.

HSTB will still accept owner-surrendered cats over four months old, depending on available space.

Symptoms of the disease include:

  • Vomiting and diarrhea

  • Fever and dehydration

  • Lethargy and appetite loss

HSTB urges pet owners to seek immediate veterinary care if these signs appear.

Florida Aquarium Welcomes Back Stranded
Sea Turtles

Cold stun season is underway, and sea turtles are returning to The Florida Aquarium’s Apollo Beach Rehabilitation Center for care.

The facility, which is free to visit, treats sea turtles suffering from cold stress or injury. Biologists conduct blood work, swim tests, and exams to assess each turtle’s condition. Some arrive in critical shape after floating for weeks, undernourished and infected.

This year brought a record intake of 75 sea turtles, due in part to Hurricanes Helene and Milton and prolonged cold.

The center also houses other wildlife like Cayenne the southern tamandua, part of its animal ambassador program promoting conservation education.

“Even small acts like reusing plastics help protect wildlife,” says aquarium biologist Madeline Strauss.

Veterans receive free admission through Veterans Day.

Late Defensive Stop Secures Patriots Victory
Over Tampa

The New England Patriots improved to 8-2 after a gritty 28–23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium, extending their win streak to seven games.

Rookie standouts Drake Maye (270 yards, 2 TDs) and TreVeyon Henderson (122 rushing yards) led the offense, with Henderson’s 69-yard game-sealing TD run and 22.01 mph top speed making headlines. Fellow rookie Kyle Williams added a 72-yard TD reception.

The Patriots defense delivered a crucial late 4th-quarter stop, sealing the win after a red zone interception.

Terrell Jennings exited with a knee injury, further thinning New England's running back depth.

Despite the win, the Pats struggled defensively against Emeka Egbuka (115 yards, 1 TD) and Cade Otton (82 yards), exposing continued issues in pass coverage.

New England now leads the AFC East and looks poised for a playoff push.
