Tampa Among Top Destinations as New Yorkers
Seek Affordability

Florida remains the top destination for New Yorkers, but a new report suggests politics may not be the driving factor behind the migration — despite claims from Governor Ron DeSantis.

A report by MovingPlace shows that since May 2024, 16.68% of New Yorkers leaving the city moved to Florida, drawn by no state income tax, a lower cost of living, and booming job markets in areas like Miami and Tampa.

The timing coincides with the rise of Zohran Mamdani, a democratic socialist who recently defeated Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa to become New York City’s most liberal mayor in decades. But data suggests Mamdani’s win hasn’t triggered a mass exodus.

Most movers are middle-class, earning between $51K–$200K — not the high earners Mamdani’s tax policies target. In fact, fewer wealthy residents left NYC after his primary victory.

Tampa ranks #12 among metros receiving the most NYC transplants, behind Miami (#2) and Orlando (#11).

While DeSantis and Rep. Greg Steube warn Mamdani’s progressive agenda will push more to Florida, the numbers reflect long-standing affordability issues — not sudden political panic.

From Golf to Gourmet: Saddlebrook’s Stunning Transformation

Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel has unveiled the results of a $92 million renovation, blending upscale leisure with elite athletic offerings. Established in 1981, the 480-acre property has been transformed into a luxury-sport destination perfect for families, athletes, and business travelers alike.

Fresh Accommodations & Culinary Additions

The resort’s 451 guest rooms and suites now boast serene designs inspired by Florida’s natural palette, along with private patios, modern amenities, and full kitchens in multi-room suites. Guests can savor elevated dining at RARE 1981, sip tropical cocktails at Palmhaus, or enjoy grab-and-go fare at BREW. A sports tavern joins the mix in 2026.

Elite Golf & Tennis Facilities

Saddlebrook’s revamped golf courses, designed by Rees Jones, offer three interchangeable nine-hole layouts. The resort also features 41 tennis courts — surfaces used in Grand Slam venues — and eight pickleball courts.

Recreation, Events & Memberships

The iconic Super Pool now includes a custom mural and updated amenities, while new meeting spaces and a sports broadcasting team-building experience elevate group gatherings. The resort also launched a membership model, and plans for a town center with luxury residences are underway.

Bargatze Back in Town: Record-Breaking Comic Hits Tampa Stage

Comedy superstar Nate Bargatze returns to Tampa this week for two nights of laughs as part of his “Big Dumb Eyes World Tour.” The shows take place Thursday and Friday, Nov. 13–14 at 7 p.m. at the Benchmark International Arena — and only limited tickets remain.

Bargatze, known for his clean, relatable humor and “Nicest Man in Stand-Up” moniker, has exploded in popularity. Since his last Tampa visit in 2023, he’s hosted Saturday Night Live (twice), emceed the Primetime Emmy Awards, and written a #1 New York Times best-selling book.

His current tour is shattering attendance and revenue records, rivaling acts like Madonna and Coldplay. His Tampa stop was so anticipated that both shows were planned early, a far cry from his last-minute second show addition in 2023.

Fans can also look forward to his new TV series, “The Greatest Average American,” premiering Feb. 25 on ABC and Hulu.

If you want in, grab tickets now — they won’t last.

Bargain Baseball: $10 Tickets and Upgrades Await Rays Fans

The Rays have announced that single‑game and season‑ticket sales open Thursday, November 16 at 2 p.m., for their 2026 home season at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

After repairing extensive hurricane‑damage, including the roof, the team is staging a comeback at the Trop with a host of fan‑friendly incentives. The club is cutting prices by around 15% on more than two‑thirds of seats compared with 2024.

A highlight: select $10 standing‑room only tickets will be available for every home game in 2026. Fans also get new premium seating options — upgraded seats, all‑inclusive packages, plus a pop‑up preview centre where you can view the exact vantage from your chosen seat.

The home opener is set for April 6 against Chicago Cubs, followed by a three‑game set versus the New York Yankees (April 10‑12).

As CEO Ken Babby put it: “This season is all about energy, excitement, and rallying behind the Rays as we chase every victory together.”
