Keep your finger on the Pulse!
GOOD MORNING
For anyone who feels that there could be improvements in this newsletter, please share them with me via the poll at the bottom; I get positive comments all the time that way, so I know it works. Without feedback, there is little I can do to bring the change you feel is needed.
BTW, I am in the process of starting 2 new weekly newsletters that will be much more focused on our local communities up here. A lot of work and expense has gone into creating what I think will be assets that were not addressed well in this current newsletter.
My hope is to be getting 2 free copies out to current subscribers to evaluate before being presented with an offer to become Founding Subscribers (with lifetime discounted rates) to either or both newsletters. More details will be coming soon.

BTS Is Back: K-pop Giants to Launch U.S. Tour
in Tampa

Global K-pop sensation BTS is making a long-awaited return with a world tour and new album, and Tampa will host their first-ever Florida concerts. The group is set to perform at Raymond James Stadium on April 25 and 26, marking their first North American stop.
This comeback follows a nearly four-year hiatus, during which members completed mandatory military service in South Korea. BTS will release a new album in March, ahead of their 2026-27 world tour, which promises a 360-degree in-the-round stage setup for an immersive fan experience.
Tampa was not originally on BTS’s tour map—the group canceled a planned 2020 Orlando show due to the pandemic. Only member Jin has previously performed in the area, with a solo show in July 2025.
Presale opens Jan. 22, with general sales starting Jan. 24. Visit btsworldtourofficial.com for details and ticket access.

Sleep Signals, Silent Warnings: AI Spots Disease Risk Overnight

A new AI model, SleepFM, is reshaping how we view sleep’s role in long-term health. Developed at Stanford, the system uses sleep lab data from over 65,000 people to predict the risk of 130 diseases, including dementia, stroke, cancer, and heart failure.
By analyzing brain waves, heart activity, breathing, and muscle movements during sleep, SleepFM detects subtle patterns that correlate with future health conditions—years before symptoms emerge.
Researchers combined 25 years of electronic health records with 600,000 hours of sleep data. They found, for instance, that mismatches between brain and heart signals during rest may reveal early signs of disease.
While AI reveals correlations, experts stress that medical professionals must interpret these insights. The model still lacks diversity in its datasets, mainly representing patients in affluent regions.
SleepFM shows how sleep data may serve as a powerful biomarker, potentially transforming diagnosis and prevention—if guided by human expertise.

Eggs, Toast, and Nostalgia: 16 Must-Try Tampa Bay Diners

From retro counters to fresh-brewed coffee and eggs any style, Tampa Bay’s diner scene remains vibrant. A new roundup highlights 16 local favorites—serving up everything from $6 breakfasts to 24/7 comfort food.
Trip’s Diner in St. Pete and Tampa blends neighborhood charm with hearty menus. Three Coins Diner, a Seminole Heights staple, has fed locals for 40+ years. Joe’s New York Diner offers 24-hour fare with a quirky flair, while Daily Eats adds modern spins like benedicts and matcha lattes.
Mom’s Place still draws Yankees fans (and once George Steinbrenner), and at Chanko, you can eat where Elvis once dined, in Tampa’s last standing Ayres Diner.
Whether you're into sweet cream pancakes, salteñas, or meatloaf, these spots promise old-school value and warm, local flavor.
Classic or quirky, nostalgic or new, Tampa Bay’s diners remain reliable spots for great food—and a side of community.

Rays Make Low-Risk Play for Lefty with Big Upside
The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired left-hander Ken Waldichuk from the Atlanta Braves, just days after he was claimed off waivers from the A’s. The deal also sends infielder Brett Wisely to Tampa Bay in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.
Waldichuk, a former top prospect, brings two minor league options and untapped upside to the Rays' pitching depth. Injured since 2023, he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2024, missing over a year of action. His pre-injury form in late 2023 (3.54 ERA over 61 IP) hinted at breakout potential.
However, in 2025 Triple-A action, he posted an 8.65 ERA with a high walk rate and diminished velocity, though strikeout numbers remained solid.
The Rays also designated Osvaldo Bido and Tsung-Che Cheng for assignment to clear roster space. Known as a well-liked clubhouse presence, Waldichuk could thrive under Tampa Bay’s pitcher-friendly development system.
