Hockey Meets Gasparilla: Stadium Series Set to Electrify Tampa

Excitement is building as the Tampa Bay Lightning prepare to face the Boston Bruins on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium for the 2026 NHL Stadium Series.

For Bolts captain Victor Hedman, the outdoor setting brings back childhood memories: “That’s the hockey how I know it growing up.”

The game is expected to draw a sold-out crowd of nearly 70,000, turning Tampa into the center of the hockey world.

Coach Jon Cooper emphasized the importance of player safety and ice quality as construction of the outdoor rink continues. The NHL is working to ensure pristine playing conditions for this landmark event.

The matchup caps off a big weekend in Tampa, coinciding with Gasparilla celebrations, and promises to be a signature event for both the league and the city.

Fans and players alike have had this circled on their calendars since the season began.

From Germany to Your Living Room: The Rise of ‘House Burping’

A trend known as “house burping”—inspired by the German practice of “lüften”—is gaining popularity across the U.S., thanks in part to TikTok and post-pandemic wellness culture.

The idea is simple: open windows briefly, even in winter, to flush out stale indoor air, reduce moisture, and help prevent mold and illness. It became widely known after Angela Merkel promoted it as a COVID prevention tactic.

Ventilation experts say the benefits include lower levels of carbon dioxide, airborne contaminants, and mold risk. Americans may especially benefit, given we spend 90% of our time indoors, according to the EPA.

Critics, however, note energy efficiency concerns, and some airtight modern homes need manual ventilation to stay healthy.

Experts recommend airing out for no more than 10 minutes, ideally in the morning or after cooking, showering, or visitors.

Notably, the trend has even sparked relationship drama and bat encounters in extreme cases.

Shot 4 Times: Bradenton Woman Survives Deadly Workplace Attack

26-year-old Summer Freitag is recovering after being shot four times during a tragic workplace shooting in Bradenton on January 15.

Police say Keith Roberts Jr. entered the lab where his ex-girlfriend, Myshaela Burnham, worked and fatally shot her. He then turned the gun on Summer, who witnessed the killing.

Summer, a licensed practical nurse, suffered a severed brachial artery in her left arm and a shattered right leg. She’s already undergone surgery and faces more, along with extensive physical and emotional recovery.

Her longtime friend Taylor Strayer described a frantic call from Summer’s sister and the terrifying wait during her transport to the hospital.

A GoFundMe page is helping support her recovery. Taylor emphasized the trauma of the experience, saying it’s left everyone reeling.

Roberts is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder and is being held in Manatee County Jail.

From Falcons to Florida: Zac Robinson Named Bucs’ New Offensive Coordinator

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to hire Zac Robinson as their next offensive coordinator, according to a source familiar with the deal. The move marks Tampa Bay’s fifth OC in five years, as the team seeks stability on offense.

Robinson most recently served as the Atlanta Falcons' OC, where his units ranked 6th in total yards (2024) and 14th (2025). Before that, he worked with the Los Angeles Rams as pass game coordinator and QB coach—briefly coaching Baker Mayfield in 2022.

The Buccaneers' offense has fluctuated: top-3 in 2024, then falling to 21st in 2025 under Josh Grizzard, who was fired after just one season.

Mayfield’s performance dipped last season as the team finished 8-9. Robinson now inherits the task of reinvigorating Tampa Bay’s attack and reigniting Mayfield’s momentum heading into 2026.

The deal is expected to be finalized soon.
