Gulf Coast Vision: 420-Mile Trail to Link Tampa Bay and Naples

A planned 420-mile Florida Gulf Coast Trail aims to connect Tampa Bay to Naples, linking seven counties and 52 communities from Pinellas and Hillsborough south to Lee and Collier.

Led by the Trust for Public Land, the initiative would unite popular routes such as the Courtney Campbell Trail, Tampa Riverwalk and Pinellas Trail into one seamless corridor. Organizers say many residents use local trails without realizing they could one day form part of a larger regional network.

The vision mirrors progress on the nearly 90%-complete Florida Coast to Coast Trail, which connects St. Petersburg to Titusville and includes the Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail.

Key projects include new links over the Howard Frankland Bridge, expanded pathways along I-275, and connections to Sarasota’s Legacy Trail.

Supporters say partnerships with the Florida Department of Transportation are critical, citing safety, tourism and economic growth as major benefits.

Horses and High-Flying Acts Take Center Stage
at Avalon Stables

The largest equestrian arts show in North America is coming to Lutz this weekend.

Cirque Ma’Ceo will perform at Avalon Stables, bringing a mix of acrobatics, aerial dance and exotic horses to the Tampa Bay area.

Founded in 2005 by producer Olissio Zoppe, the touring production has grown into a global attraction, blending traditional circus artistry with high-level horsemanship. Performers execute gravity-defying aerial routines while riders and horses move in carefully choreographed sequences under the big top.

Showtimes include March 6 at 7 p.m.; March 7 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and March 8 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Organizers say audiences can expect a fast-paced, family-friendly performance that celebrates both athleticism and artistry.

Tickets and additional details are available through the event’s official website.

3,500 Student Storytellers Take Over Tampa
for National Convention

Today is last day

More than 3,500 student storytellers filled downtown Tampa this week for the Student Television Network’s annual convention.

Held February 28 through March 3 at the Tampa Convention Center, the event brought middle and high school students together for four days of competitions, hands-on sessions and live productions across the city.

Student Television Network serves more than 40,000 students nationwide in grades 6–12 who are interested in film, broadcast journalism and multimedia. This year’s convention featured over 1,200 contest entries, 50 sessions led by industry professionals and an exhibit hall with more than 40 sponsors.

Students also participated in an Amazing Race around Tampa, a CineFest at the historic Tampa Theatre and three student-produced live award shows.

Organizers say the mission remains clear: empowering young voices and preparing the next generation of media leaders.

Public Invited to Weigh In on Rays’ “Forever Home” Vision

The Tampa Bay Rays are inviting the public to help shape plans for a new ballpark and mixed-use district in Hillsborough County.

The first three community engagement sessions will begin March 3, offering residents a chance to review concepts, ask questions and provide feedback on the proposed development.

Sessions will be held March 3 at Hillsborough Community College’s Dale Mabry campus, March 10 at Jefferson High School and March 11 at The Skills Center.

Tampa Bay Rays leadership and college officials will outline the evolving vision, which includes a new ballpark and a multi-billion-dollar mixed-use district. The project is structured as a public-private partnership, with stadium costs shared among the team, Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa.

An independent analysis projects $34 billion in economic impact and 12,000 permanent jobs once completed.

Additional engagement dates are expected to be announced soon.
