Are E-Scooters and E-Bikes Legal? Florida Law Explained

Concerns over motorized bikes, scooters, and skateboards in Wesley Chapel have intensified following a recent tragedy involving a young rider.

Florida law treats these devices very differently depending on their design. E-bikes with pedals (under 750 watts) are generally legal on roads, bike lanes, and many sidewalks, while motorized scooters share similar access with some local restrictions.

However, electric skateboards fall into a legal gray area and are effectively limited to private property only, as they are not permitted on roads, sidewalks, or bike paths.

More powerful devices like electric dirt bikes and pocket bikes are treated as motor vehicles, requiring registration and licenses—conditions most cannot meet.

With speeds reaching 20–28 mph, these devices pose growing risks in residential areas, placing responsibility on families to understand the rules and ensure safe use.

USF Students Reconsider Off-Campus Living After Tragic Murders

University of South Florida students are reevaluating off-campus living arrangements after two doctoral students were killed by a roommate, sending shockwaves through the campus community.

Many students say the tragedy feels especially unsettling because of its proximity. Some described the situation as “scary” and deeply personal, prompting conversations about safety and trust when choosing roommates.

The suspect, identified as the victims’ roommate, now faces two counts of first-degree murder, while law enforcement continues investigating related details.

Students and families are calling for stronger safeguards, including background checks and enhanced safety measures in privately owned housing near campus.

In response, USF has pledged support for the victims’ families, including assistance with funeral arrangements, a campus memorial, and ongoing safety discussions.

The incident has sparked broader reflection, as students weigh convenience against personal safety in off-campus housing decisions.

K-Pop Effect: Fans Flock to Tampa Bay Restaurant After BTS Visit

A quiet waterfront dinner has turned into a global attraction after members of BTS dined at a local Apollo Beach restaurant ahead of their Tampa concerts.

The group visited Finn’s Dockside Bar and Grill, where they enjoyed a spread that included crab cakes, wings, coconut shrimp, grouper, and lobster mac and cheese, along with beers.

At the time, staff and diners didn’t recognize the international stars. But once a photo surfaced online, everything changed. The restaurant now sees 150–200 fans daily, many hoping to sit at the same table used by the band.

The visit coincides with BTS’s Tampa shows, expected to draw around 180,000 fans, amplifying the impact on local businesses.

What began as a low-key meal has quickly evolved into a K-pop pilgrimage site, highlighting the powerful reach of global entertainment.

From MLB Clubhouses to USF Star: Jevin Relaford’s Unique Path

Jevin Relaford’s baseball journey began in an environment most players only dream of—inside Major League Baseball clubhouses. As the son of former big leaguer Desi Relaford, who played 11 MLB seasons, Jevin gained early exposure to the game’s discipline and expectations.

Rather than shielding him from failure, his father emphasized accountability and improvement. Honest feedback and high standards became the foundation of Jevin’s development, shaping both his mindset and performance.

Growing up in a competitive athletic environment, Jevin played multiple sports before focusing on baseball. His attention to detail—mechanics, timing, and fundamentals—set him apart early and continues to define his game.

Now a starting shortstop, he blends natural ability with years of structured guidance. While comparisons to his father are inevitable, Jevin’s goal is clear: build his own path, grounded in the lessons that shaped him.
