Tampa Couple Turns Homemade Drinks into Farmers Market Hit

What began as a homemade treat has grown into a thriving local business for Curtis and Nadine Knight, founders of Lemonicious Drink Company.

After friends and family repeatedly asked where to buy the drinks, the couple began selling them by the gallon. Within three years, demand expanded to roughly 20 local markets and stores, with the brand now appearing at six to ten farmers markets each week.

Lemonicious offers a lineup of core flavors like Lemon Blossom, Strawberry, Blueberry Lavender, Pineapple, Hibiscus Rose, and Southern Peach Tea, alongside rotating seasonal options.

Each beverage is crafted using only a handful of fresh, natural ingredients, many sourced from local farms. The drinks are high-pressure pasteurized, allowing for a 90-day refrigerated shelf life without compromising quality.

The result is a unique taste—light like flavored water, yet rich and vibrant like a smoothie—that continues to win over customers across Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay Water Ski Team Seeks New Home Lake

The Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team continues to dazzle audiences with high-level performances, but the group is still searching for a permanent home lake.

Known for intricate routines like human pyramids, spins, and ballet-style tricks, the team blends athletic skill with showmanship. Many members have skied since childhood, with some families spanning multiple generations on the team.

The group lost its longtime home at Tower Lake in Oldsmar in 2018 due to liability concerns, leaving them without a consistent place to practice or host performances.

Despite the setback, the team remains active by practicing at borrowed locations and preparing for appearances like Tampa’s Riverfest.

Without a dedicated venue, growth is limited. Still, the team hopes to partner with the community to secure a new home and continue a decades-long Tampa Bay tradition.

Lost for a Century: WWI Cutter Tampa Finally Found Beneath Atlantic

The wreck of the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Tampa, lost during World War I, has been discovered more than a century after it sank in one of the deadliest naval losses in American history.

A British volunteer dive team located the vessel 50 miles off Cornwall, England, at a depth of over 300 feet, after a three-year search effort. Its identity was confirmed using historical records and ship details provided by the Coast Guard Historian’s Office.

The Tampa was torpedoed by a German submarine on September 26, 1918, sinking in less than three minutes and leaving no survivors among the 131 aboard, including U.S. Coast Guardsmen, Navy personnel, and British crew.

The discovery reconnects the Coast Guard to a profound legacy of sacrifice. All crew members were posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in 1999, honoring their service and ensuring their story endures.

From Call to Scene in Minutes: Drones Transform
St. Pete Policing

The St. Petersburg Police Department is turning to drone technology to respond to emergencies faster and more efficiently.

Within seconds of a 911 call, drones can launch and reach scenes in under two minutes, traveling up to 46 miles per hour. Operated remotely from a control room, they provide real-time aerial intelligence to officers before they arrive.

Police say the system significantly improves situational awareness, allowing responders to assess suspect locations, vehicle descriptions, and medical needs in advance. The department currently operates 11 active drones, supported by a dedicated drone hub and real-time intelligence center.

Officials describe the program as a major advancement in policing, enhancing safety for both officers and the public.

Community response has been largely positive, with residents noting increased confidence in emergency response. The department plans to expand the program, adding 12 more drones over the next two years.
