Forecast Calls for Weekend Rain—but Not Enough to End Drought
After an extended dry stretch, rain is finally in the forecast for Tampa Bay, though relief is expected to be limited.
Forecasters say the region could receive about a quarter-inch to half an inch of rain from Saturday afternoon into early Sunday. While welcome, it won’t significantly ease conditions, as most of the area remains under severe drought, with rainfall deficits stretching back months.
The incoming rain is tied to a cold front moving through the region, bringing breezy winds, scattered showers, and a chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to cool slightly after the front passes, dropping from near 90 degrees into the upper 70s and low 80s.
Despite the shift, experts caution that much more consistent rainfall will be needed to reverse drying lakes, rivers, and wetlands as the region heads toward summer.
We hired one colleague for every department.
Last Tuesday, marketing asked Viktor to write the weekly campaign recap, pull performance from Google Ads and Meta, and format it as a PDF for the exec team. Done in four minutes.
That same afternoon, engineering asked Viktor to review three open pull requests on GitHub, cross-reference with the Linear sprint board, and flag anything blocking the release. Posted to private channel before standup.
At 9pm, ops asked Viktor to draft a vendor contract summary from three Notion docs and send it to the team. It was in #ops by morning.
None of them knew the others were using it.
Same colleague. Three departments. That's what changes when your AI coworker lives in Slack, where your whole company already works. It's not a tool one person logs into. It's a teammate everyone messages.
5,700+ teams. SOC 2 certified. Your data never trains models.
"Viktor is now an integral team member, and after weeks of use we still feel we haven't uncovered the full potential." - Patrick O'Doherty, Director, Yarra Web

Inside the $25M Effort to Film ‘A Land Remembered’ in Pasco County

A major television adaptation of “A Land Remembered” is underway in Pasco County, bringing Old Florida’s frontier history to life on screen.
Filming on a sprawling private ranch, the production features hundreds of actors, crew members, and reenactors, recreating scenes inspired by the Civil War and early Florida life. Director Todd Wiseman said the series aims to deepen characters and highlight untold perspectives, including the motivations of enslaved individuals seeking freedom.
With an estimated $25 million budget, the project has filmed across multiple Florida locations, often on land owned by families with deep regional roots.
The production has faced scrutiny over environmental concerns and on-set practices, though officials say all work complies with safety and humane standards.
As crews continue filming complex battle scenes and large-scale sequences, the series reflects both Florida’s past and the tension between preservation and modern development.

Brain Sugar Found to Direct Myelin Development, Study Shows

Researchers at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center have discovered that glucose acts as a key signal in brain development, guiding how cells form myelin—the protective coating that enables fast nerve communication.
The study found that higher glucose levels promote the growth of progenitor cells, while lower levels trigger their transformation into myelin-producing oligodendrocytes. This helps explain why myelin develops at different times across brain regions.
At the center of the process is the enzyme ACLY, which converts glucose into molecules that activate genes needed for cell growth. When ACLY was removed, cell proliferation dropped, leading to reduced myelin—though cells could still mature using alternative energy sources.
Notably, a ketogenic diet improved myelin levels in affected mice by supplying alternative fuel.
These findings suggest that metabolic support during critical developmental stages could protect brain function and may lead to new therapies for conditions like multiple sclerosis.
