These Wesley Chapel Roads Carry the Highest Crash Risk Per Trip

A new traffic safety study is raising concerns about several heavily traveled roads in Wesley Chapel, one of Florida’s fastest-growing communities.

The report, released by Abrahamson & Uiterwyk Car Accident and Personal Injury Lawyers, analyzed crash severity alongside traffic volume to determine which roads pose the greatest danger per trip rather than simply counting total accidents.

The SR 54 and I-75 interchange ranked as the area’s highest-risk roadway, followed by Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, Wesley Chapel Boulevard, County Line Road, and Curley Road. Researchers say complicated merging patterns, frequent intersections, commercial turn-ins, and rapid residential growth all contribute to elevated crash risks.

The study noted that Florida recorded more than 350,000 crashes statewide in 2025, averaging nearly 1,000 per day.

Safety experts recommend drivers remain especially alert at busy intersections, avoid distracted driving, and use extra caution around expanding residential corridors where sudden turning movements are common.

Pasco County Completes Largest Land Preservation Deal in History

Pasco County has completed the largest land preservation project in its history, protecting nearly 1,900 acres of ranchland in eastern Pasco County through a conservation easement designed to limit future development.

The $68 million agreement preserves the 4G Ranch property in Land O’ Lakes and was funded jointly by Pasco County and the State of Florida. County officials say the land creates an important environmental corridor linking several existing protected properties across eastern Pasco.

The ranch remains privately owned by the Phillips family, who can continue cattle operations while preserving wildlife habitat and water resources. Officials say the property supports species including sandhill cranes, deer, wild turkey, and roseate spoonbills.

Not everyone supports the deal. Critics argue taxpayers are spending millions on land that remains privately owned and largely inaccessible to the public.

County leaders say protecting large connected tracts before major development occurs is central to Pasco’s long-term environmental strategy.

Tampa’s Fabrica Pizza Earns Spot on Prestigious U.S. Top 50 List

A Tampa pizza restaurant is earning national recognition after being named one of the top pizzerias in the United States.

Fabrica Pizza ranked No. 24 nationally on the latest annual list released by 50 Top Pizza, a respected international guide focused on artisan-style pizzerias.

The rankings praised Fabrica Pizza’s Neapolitan-style dough and highlighted its mushroom pizza as a standout menu item. The Tampa restaurant has become known for its wood-fired pizzas featuring airy crusts, fresh ingredients, and traditional Italian preparation methods.

Three Miami restaurants also placed in the national top 15, including Francesco Martucci, La Leggenda, and ‘O Munaciello.

The annual rankings are closely followed within the pizza industry and often spotlight restaurants that combine authentic techniques with high-quality ingredients and consistency.

Fabrica’s recognition places Tampa alongside several major food destinations across the country and adds to the growing attention surrounding Tampa Bay’s expanding culinary scene.

Hidden Florida Ghost Town Near Tampa Slowly Being Reclaimed by Nature

Long before tourism shaped Florida’s economy, timber towns powered much of the state’s growth. One of the most fascinating forgotten communities was Centralia, a booming lumber town that once stood between Tampa and Gainesville.

Founded in 1910 near present-day Hernando County, Centralia grew rapidly around a massive sawmill operation harvesting cypress forests. More than 1,000 workers and family members once lived there, supported by a post office, schoolhouse, bakery, church, restaurant, and even a small movie theater.

But the town’s success was short-lived. By 1917, much of the surrounding timber had been cleared, forcing the mill to close. Residents gradually left, and the forest slowly reclaimed the settlement.

Today, scattered ruins remain hidden inside the Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area, including old brick walls, sawmill foundations, and a historic well. Visitors can explore the remains via the Centralia Sawmill Trail while also spotting native Florida wildlife throughout the preserve.
