Tampa’s Career Glow Up Returns Friday With Hiring, Free Headshots and On-the-Spot Interviews

The City of Tampa is preparing to host its second annual Career Glow Up job fair on Friday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering local residents a chance to connect directly with employers and career development resources.
Following a successful debut that attracted more than 300 attendees, this year’s event is expected to be significantly larger, with more than 700 job seekers already registered. Nearly three dozen employers will be on hand looking to fill positions and meet qualified candidates.
Mayor Jane Castor said the event is designed to help connect Tampa residents with local employment opportunities while keeping talent in the community.
Attendees can expect on-the-spot interviews, direct access to hiring managers, and a variety of free career-building services. The Career Glow Bar will provide professional headshots, styling advice, interview coaching, and résumé workshops.
The event will also feature free lunch, prizes, giveaways, and a live DJ, creating an energetic atmosphere designed to help job seekers make meaningful career connections.

Connecticut Child Deaths Highlight Risks of Social Media Drug Challenges
Public health officials are urging parents to secure medications after three Connecticut children died from overdoses involving diphenhydramine, the active ingredient found in many Benadryl products.
State officials confirmed the deaths but have not released details about the children’s ages, when the incidents occurred, or whether they were connected to the viral “Benadryl Challenge” that gained attention on social media several years ago.
Medical experts say the challenge encouraged young people to take excessive amounts of diphenhydramine in an attempt to experience hallucinations or other effects. Although major social media platforms removed much of the content, healthcare providers continue to report cases of misuse.
Diphenhydramine is commonly used to treat allergy symptoms and is considered safe when taken as directed. However, large doses can cause serious heart complications, seizures, coma, and death.
Health officials are encouraging parents to store all medications in locked locations, out of the reach and sight of children, and to discuss medication safety with teenagers and young adults. The recent deaths serve as a reminder that even common over-the-counter medicines can become dangerous when misused.

Three Missing Pigs Found Roaming in Shady Hills, Owners Sought

Paid Models - not the actual lost pigs
Three pigs are waiting for a ride home after being discovered wandering through a rural area of eastern Pasco County.
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Unit located the animals on June 11 near the intersection of Shady Hills Road and Greenglen Lane in Shady Hills. Deputies are now working to identify and reunite the pigs with their rightful owner.
Officials said the three pigs appeared to have strayed from nearby property owners, though no owner had been identified at the time of the announcement. The Agriculture Unit routinely responds to calls involving livestock, farm animals, and other agricultural concerns throughout Pasco County.
Anyone who believes the pigs belong to them must be able to provide proof of ownership before the animals can be released.
Residents with information or who believe they own the pigs are encouraged to contact the Pasco Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency Line at 727-847-8102, option 7.
For now, the trio of unexpected travelers remains safely in the care of authorities while awaiting a reunion with their owner.
