New I-75 Bus Service Links Tampa and St. Pete
With Four Cities

Tampa Bay travelers have a new option for reaching several destinations along Interstate 75, as FlixBus launches daily service connecting St. Petersburg and Tampa with Atlanta and communities in between.

The new route begins Thursday, with Florida stops in St. Petersburg, Tampa and Gainesville before continuing north to Valdosta and Byron, Georgia, and Atlanta. Tampa passengers will board at 1315 N. Marion St., while the St. Petersburg stop is at 860 Central Ave.

FlixBus says the route is designed to provide an affordable, direct alternative for travel between two major Southeastern metro areas, while also serving college students, families and other travelers along the I-75 corridor.

Company officials called the Tampa Bay–Atlanta corridor a high-demand market where intercity bus transportation can improve regional connections.

The service operates daily, expanding Tampa Bay residents' transportation choices for trips to Gainesville, South Georgia and Atlanta without requiring a car.

Tampa Boy’s Homemade Journals Spark Mission to Help Cancer Patients and Animals

A 9-year-old Tampa boy is turning a simple act of kindness into a growing community effort supporting cancer patients and animals in need.

Luke Radeline created Luke’s Mission after beginning last year by making homemade journals for patients at a local cancer center. The project has since expanded into care packages designed to provide comfort and encouragement during treatment.

Luke and his family pack boxes with socks, lotion, tissues, tea, hand sanitizer and handwritten messages of encouragement. His nonprofit also collects food, toys and other supplies for local animal shelters.

Luke says helping others can make the world kinder and happier. His mother, Jamie Radeline, said the family wants to help him continue bringing joy and hope to people throughout the community.

Luke’s Mission is now seeking donations and volunteers, particularly children interested in helping assemble care packages, giving other young people an opportunity to join Luke’s effort to spread kindness.

Special Delivery: Amazon Drone Drops Texas Woman’s Package Into Her Pool

A Texas woman got an unexpected demonstration of the risks of drone delivery when her Amazon package arrived not on her doorstep, but in the middle of her backyard swimming pool.

Lindsey Austen of Richmond received an alert that her order was arriving through Amazon’s Prime Air service. After hearing the drone buzzing overhead, she went outside and watched it open its hatch and release the package directly over the pool.

Austen said she was shocked and may think twice before choosing another drone delivery.

The mishap comes as Amazon prepares to expand drone delivery to nearly 500 U.S. cities. The service will be free for Prime members, while nonmembers will pay $4.99. Orders under $50 face an additional $2.99 fee.

Packages are limited to five pounds, and flights will primarily serve suburban areas while navigating airport restrictions, local noise ordinances and other regulations.

Vita Vea Lands $48 Million Extension, Ending Hold-In With Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured one of the cornerstones of their defense, reaching a contract extension with veteran nose tackle Vita Vea and ending his training camp hold-in.

The new agreement is reportedly worth $48 million over the next two seasons. Vea had been entering the final year of a four-year, $71 million contract.

General manager Jason Licht called Vea the type of player Tampa Bay wants to build around, praising his dominance on the defensive line, leadership and role in establishing the team's winning culture.

The two-time Pro Bowler has spent all eight of his NFL seasons with Tampa Bay, becoming a disruptive presence in the middle of the Buccaneers defense. His career totals include 256 tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 79 quarterback hits and 35 sacks, along with three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

The extension keeps a key defensive leader in Tampa Bay as the Buccaneers pursue another championship.
