I Almost Threw Out My Keurig. It Wasn't Broken.

Every cup from my Keurig started tasting weak, flat, stale — so I unplugged it and stuck it in a closet. Then I learned the dirty secret of grocery store K-Cups: by the time a pod reaches your kitchen, it's usually spent months going from factory to warehouse to truck to shelf. The flavor oils are long gone. Some brands even over-roast to hide it.

The fix wasn't a new machine. It was fresh pods from Angelino's, a family-owned L.A. roastery that roasts, packs, and ships within 3–5 days — straight to your door, from 39¢ a cup. Over 1,000,000 happy customers. 50+ flavors, no subscription required, and 15% off your first order, applied automatically at checkout.

GOOD MORNING

From London to Wesley Chapel: Cybersecurity Firm Launches Local Student Internship Program

London-based cybersecurity company DSi Compliance is opening its second U.S. office in Wesley Chapel, bringing international technology expertise and new educational opportunities to Pasco County.

The company will operate from the SMARTstart @ the Grove Entrepreneur Center, following its initial U.S. expansion into Virginia in 2021. DSi specializes in cybersecurity, forensic analysis, and artificial intelligence tools that help organizations efficiently examine digital evidence, including audio, video, and documents.

A major component of the expansion is a partnership with Saint Leo University, launching the company's first student internship program in December 2026. Students will gain hands-on exposure to cybersecurity and forensic technology.

The Pasco Economic Development Council helped facilitate connections with local educational institutions and law enforcement organizations, including the Pasco Sheriff's Office.

Officials say the expansion strengthens Pasco County's growing technology sector and highlights its strategic proximity to major military commands.

Moffitt’s Pasco Expansion Could Create 4,000 High-Paying Jobs and $2.6 Billion Economic Boost

Moffitt Cancer Center has secured $200 million in private-sector commitments to develop a cancer drug manufacturing hub at its 775-acre Speros campus in Pasco County.

The U.S. Department of Commerce also announced a proposed $47.3 million federal award, potentially bringing combined funding to more than $247 million.

The initiative, called FORGE, focuses on manufacturing radiopharmaceuticals, innovative cancer treatments that deliver targeted radiation directly to tumors while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Partnering with USF, Pasco-Hernando State College, and Embarc Collective, the project will support biotechnology startups, specialized workforce training, and advanced manufacturing facilities.

Economic projections estimate 4,000 high-paying jobs and $2.6 billion in statewide economic impact over 10 years.

Moffitt recently opened its 250,000-square-foot Discovery and Innovation Center at Speros, further expanding Pasco County's growing biotechnology presence.

The federal award remains pending, and construction timelines have not yet been announced.

Did You Know? Pinball Was Once Illegal in New York City for More Than 30 Years!

In 1942, New York City banned pinball machines because officials considered them gambling devices that encouraged juvenile delinquency. Police even smashed confiscated machines with sledgehammers and dumped others into the Hudson River.

The ban lasted until 1976, when a young pinball expert named Roger Sharpe demonstrated before city officials that pinball was a game of skill, not merely chance. He famously called his shot, sending the ball into a specific lane to prove that players could control the outcome.

His successful demonstration helped convince lawmakers to overturn the ban, ending 34 years of illegal pinball in New York City!

USF Bulls Bring Nation’s No. 13 Scoring Defense Into Halloween Clash

The USF Bulls (5-2) return to action Saturday, October 31, hosting the UAB Blazers (4-3) in a Halloween showdown at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET, with national television coverage on ESPNU.

Both teams enter the matchup following bye weeks, setting up a defensive battle between two of the American Conference's strongest units.

USF leads the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 15.1 points per game, while UAB boasts the nation's top passing defense, surrendering only 126 yards per contest.

Under first-year head coach Brian Hartline, the Bulls have recorded 14 sacks and 50 tackles for loss through seven games.

Offensively, USF running back D.J. Crowther leads the team with 518 rushing yards and eight total touchdowns.

The Bulls have won the last two meetings against UAB and lead the all-time series 3-2, adding momentum to Saturday's Halloween matchup.
