La Segunda: A Century-Old Bakery in Tampa Named Florida's Finest

In the vibrant Tampa-area, a bakery has risen to the top, earning the title of the best bakery in Florida. This accolade comes from Taste of Home's comprehensive list, spotlighting the top bakeries across the United States.

La Segunda, nestled in the historic Ybor City stands out with its rich 104-year history, making it one of the nation's oldest bakeries. The origins of La Segunda are as unique as its baked goods.

Founded by a Spanish soldier who was inspired by the bread he savored in Cuba during the early 1900s, the bakery has since been a hub of culinary delight.

Its extensive menu boasts an array of baked goods, including cookies, donuts, pies, and their signature bread. Noteworthy recommendations from Taste of Home include the Media Noche bread, the indulgent tres leches cake, and the authentic Cuban sandwich.

La Segunda's main location at 2512 N 15th St in Ybor City, FL, welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, opening its doors from 6:30 am to 3 pm. Additionally, this celebrated bakery extends its presence with other outlets in Tampa and St. Pete, offering a taste of history and flavor to a wider audience.

Holiday Cheer in Tampa: Woman’s Inflatable Costume Prank Surprises Amazon Driver

In Tampa, Florida, a woman decided to spread some festive cheer in a unique way by dressing up as an inflatable gingerbread man to surprise her Amazon delivery driver.

Captured on video, she inflated her costume and playfully sprang into action just as the driver was returning to his van after delivering a package. The lighthearted prank resulted in laughter and a memorable moment, with the driver humorously admitting to being startled.

The woman, who orchestrated the prank, later shared that her intention was to brighten the driver's day, a goal she seemingly achieved according to her account.

Tampa Bay's Remarkable Turnaround: From 4-7 to Division Contenders

In a dramatic turnaround, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have surged from a 4-7 record to a commendable 8-7, thanks to their fourth consecutive win, this time a 30-12 triumph over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Star receiver Mike Evans played a pivotal role, scoring two touchdowns, while quarterback Baker Mayfield maintained his impressive form. The Buccaneers' defense was a fortress, forcing four turnovers, including key contributions from linebacker Devin White and safety Antoine Winfield.

This victory has put the Buccaneers on the brink of clinching their third straight division title. Meanwhile, the Jaguars, led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, struggled with their fourth loss in a row, despite Lawrence's return from injury. Their defeat leaves them tied with the Colts and Texans, casting doubts on their upcoming performances.

Use It or Lose It: Why Holding Onto Gift Cards Could Cost You

Gift cards, a popular holiday gift, are at risk of losing value due to inflation, with nearly $21 billion going unused annually. Credit Summit's survey found that 60% of Americans have unused gift cards. The National Retail Federation noted significant holiday spending on gift cards, with an average of $166.69 spent per person. However, only 19% use their gift cards immediately, often saving them for special occasions.

Experts warn that with inflation over 3%, the value of these cards decreases over time. Risks include loss, business closures, or forgetting the card's existence. Peter Harms and Dorothy Kelly recommend prompt use or adding them to a digital wallet. Despite these concerns, 90% of Americans enjoy receiving gift cards, with Amazon and restaurant cards being favorites.
