Step Back in Time: Tampa's New Red Phone Booth Speakeasy Will Bring 1920s Elegance

Tampa, Florida, will now be home to the Red Phone Booth, a 1920s-inspired speakeasy, expanding its nationwide presence. This latest addition, following their successful Miami venue, marks the sixth U.S. location, joining others in Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas, and Miami. Under Roaring Franchises, led by Stephen de Haan, the Red Phone Booth has established itself as a standout in the nightlife industry, known for its unique Prohibition Experience.

In collaboration with Michael and Scott Smith, the Tampa venture embodies the chain's dedication to authenticity. The speakeasy's allure lies in its exclusive Prohibition-era atmosphere, accessed through a secret phone number in an antique red phone booth. The interior features a blend of vintage decor, custom Italian leather couches, and honey onyx bars, complemented by Christian Waggoner's artwork.

The bar's mixology program stands out with its array of rare spirits and expertly crafted cocktails. Additionally, the menu offers Italian appetizers, Neapolitan pizzas, and a diverse cigar selection. Red Phone Booth also emphasizes air quality, featuring advanced ventilation technology. Members enjoy a variety of benefits across all locations, with membership tiers ranging from individual to corporate.

From Pasco High to Husky Hero: The Making of QB Michael Penix Jr.

Michael Penix Jr.'s journey from a high school freshman at Pasco High School in Dade City, Florida, to a Heisman Trophy finalist and University of Washington quarterback is a story of determination and skill.

Starting with a perfect 2-for-2, 30-yard performance in his first high school game, Penix showcased his potential early on. His high school career saw him transfer to Tampa Bay Technical High School, where he excelled further, putting up impressive numbers and leading his team to notable victories.

At Indiana University, Penix continued to develop his talent, eventually transferring to Washington. His achievements culminated in leading Washington to a thrilling victory over Texas in the Allstate Sugar Bowl and a spot in the CFP National Championship game. Despite challenges, including initial hesitation from his father about his college choice, Penix's commitment to his vision has been unwavering. He credits his success to the relationships he's built, particularly with Coach DeBoer at Washington.

Penix's roots remain a significant part of his identity. He acknowledges both Dade City and Tampa as integral to his journey, and his hometown will honor him during the upcoming MLK parade in Dade City. This recognition is a testament to his impact on his community and his enduring connection to where his quest for perfection began.

Corum's Charge Leads Michigan to National Championship Victory

Against Washington

In a monumental victory, the University of Michigan Wolverines, led by coach Jim Harbaugh, captured their first national championship since 1997, defeating Washington 34-13. Star player Blake Corum shone with 134 rushing yards and two crucial fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Despite a season shadowed by suspensions and a sign-stealing scandal, the Wolverines showcased resilience, completing a three-year journey under Harbaugh's leadership to an undefeated season.

The team's defense was formidable, effectively containing Washington's passing game, while Michigan's running game amassed an impressive 303 yards. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy contributed with steady play, guiding the team to triumph.

This victory marks a significant milestone for Michigan, reaffirming their status as a football powerhouse.
