Red Bull Flugtag Soars Back to Tampa Bay After 13 Years!

For the first time in 13 years, Red Bull Flugtag is returning to Tampa Bay. This exhilarating event is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, in front of the Tampa Convention Center.

Flugtag, which translates to "flying day" in German, features teams piloting homemade flying machines off a 27-foot-high flight deck, all in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators. It's a day filled with creativity, daring, and fun as teams compete to see whose machine can fly the farthest.

Interested participants can apply between July 8 and Sept. 19, with teams being selected on Sept. 23. For more information and to apply, visit Red Bull’s website.

Tampa previously hosted Red Bull Flugtag in 2008 and 2011, making this long-awaited return a significant event for the area.

New Tampa Rotary Club Raises Over $61K for Local and Global Causes

The Rotary Club of New Tampa marked a successful year of fundraising at its annual Give Back Breakfast, raising $61,809 for 26 causes. The event promoted collaboration among local and global nonprofits, with each presenting their missions and plans for the donations.

As it nears its 30th anniversary, the club continues to support OASIS Opportunities, which runs a mobile closet for high school students. The New Tampa Family YMCA received funds for its Open Doors Program, assisting economically disadvantaged youth. Additionally, the Heroes Adapt Foundation, founded by Denny Locasio of Impact Fitness, was awarded funds to buy home cardio equipment for veterans.

The Rotary Club / Rotary International, a global network of community volunteers, has an interesting and lesser-known history with a significant milestone: it was one of the first organizations to establish a worldwide campaign to eradicate a disease.

In 1985, Rotary launched PolioPlus, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector support of a public health initiative. This ambitious program aimed to immunize all the world's children against polio, a debilitating disease that was still endemic in 125 countries at the time.

Through its persistent efforts, the Rotary Club has played a pivotal role in reducing polio cases by 99.9%, bringing the world closer than ever to eradicating the disease entirely. This remarkable achievement highlights the Rotary Club's impactful contributions to global health and its dedication to making a lasting difference.

Tampa Dentist Accused of Sending 100 Death Threats via Email and Social Media

A 60-year-old Tampa dentist, Richard Glenn Kantwill, has been accused by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) of sending death threats and threats of injury to numerous individuals. According to court records, Kantwill targeted approximately 42 victims from August 2019 to July 2020, using email, social media, and text messages to issue around 100 threats.

The DOJ revealed that Kantwill’s actions included a variety of disturbing messages aimed at intimidating his victims. As a result, Kantwill has been indicted on three counts of interstate transmission of threats to injure.

If convicted on all counts, Kantwill could face a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison. The case highlights the serious legal consequences of using digital communication tools to threaten and intimidate others across state lines.

Yandy Díaz Homers Off Paul Skenes’ First Pitch in Rays' Win, Livvy Dunne's Boyfriend Struggles

Paul Skenes’ MLB career has been off to a promising start, but the rookie pitcher and boyfriend of social media star Livvy Dunne experienced a rough first inning against Tampa Bay on Sunday afternoon. During the game at PNC Park, Tampa Bay Rays' Yandy Díaz hit a home run off Skenes' first pitch, propelling the Rays to a 3-1 victory.

The excitement in the stadium was palpable as Díaz's nearly 100 mph first-pitch fastball sailed off the right-field foul pole. Despite this setback, the 22-year-old Skenes has shown significant promise in his early career, consistently delivering strong performances. Since his major league debut last month, Skenes has pitched at least six innings in five out of seven starts.

The story gained additional attention due to Skenes' relationship with Livvy Dunne, a well-known social media personality with a massive following. Her fame has brought more eyes to Skenes' budding career and recent performances.
