Breeze Airways Unveils New Florida Routes with Special Discount Deals

Breeze Airways is launching three new routes to Florida this fall, providing more travel options and special discounts. Starting in October, Breeze will offer nonstop flights from Fort Myers and Tampa to Long Island, NY, Burlington, VT, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA. Additionally, Orlando to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton service will increase to five times weekly.
To celebrate, Breeze is offering $79 one-way fares for bookings by July 1, for travel through January 7, 2025. There's also a 35% discount on all roundtrip flights with promo code "DUPE," for bookings by June 27, valid for travel from August 14 to January 7, 2025, excluding certain blackout dates.
Founded in 2021 by JetBlue founder David Neeleman, Breeze now flies to 56 cities across 29 states and plans international expansion soon. The airline aims for an all-Airbus A220 fleet by the end of 2024.
Innovative Strategies Help Pinellas and Pasco Avoid School Closures

Facing financial constraints and declining enrollment, many Florida school districts are closing underutilized schools. However, Pinellas and Pasco counties have chosen less controversial methods.
Pinellas County has seen a steady decline in student numbers, mainly due to an aging population and lower birth rates. Instead of closing schools, the district repurposes spaces for community health clinics and prekindergarten programs. Recent mergers and conversions faced minimal opposition.
Pasco County is experiencing significant growth, with enrollment projected to increase by 13,000 students by 2032. The district has closed some schools in declining areas and repurposed others for specialized programs. Caution is exercised due to ongoing growth, with future leaders focusing on enhancing programs to attract more students rather than closing schools.
Mangrove Snapper and Tarpon Action Heats Up Tampa Waters

Guide Highlights
Capt. Chuck Rogers (813-918-8356): Trout fishing has been exceptional around the Gandy Bridge in 4 to 5 feet of water, with live sardines bringing in fish up to 20 inches. Juvenile tarpon can be found in residential canals, with live sardines or shrimp as effective baits. The mangrove snapper bite is improving around bridge and dock pilings, favoring live shrimp. Spanish mackerel and bluefish are scattered, with chumming helpful for better catches.
Capt. George Hastick (727-525-1005): Smaller snook and some reds are being caught in the mangrove shade below the Gandy Bridge using live pinfish or scaled sardines. Dead bait is proving more effective for snook. Trout around 13 to 15 inches are present near grass beds and coral areas in 5-8 feet of water, with jigs and soft-plastic tails being effective..
One unexpected and striking fact about saltwater fishing is that some species of fish, like certain types of groupers, are protogynous hermaphrodites. This means they are born female and have the ability to change into males later in life. This sex change usually occurs when they reach a certain size or age, often triggered by the absence of a dominant male in their social group.
This fascinating adaptation ensures that there are always enough males available to mate, optimizing reproductive success in their environment. This intriguing aspect of fish biology not only showcases the complexity of marine life but also highlights the adaptability of these creatures to their ecological niches.

Beach Day Turns Tragic as Umbrella Impales Woman at Cocoa Beach

A woman sunbathing at Cocoa Beach, Florida, was impaled by a rental umbrella that dislodged from the sand and struck her leg. Emergency services, including the Cocoa Beach Fire Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue, responded swiftly. The cause of the umbrella's dislodgement remains unknown, and the woman's current medical condition has not been disclosed.
Though rare, such accidents are not unheard of. In 2023, a woman in South Carolina died from a similar incident, and in 2019, a 13-year-old boy was hospitalized after being impaled by an umbrella in Massachusetts.
