Iconic South Tampa Deli Wright's Gourmet House Acquired by
Caspers Company

South Tampa's Wright's Gourmet House has officially been sold to Caspers Company, a local business headed by Blake Casper and Allison Casper Adams.
Despite the change in ownership, the beloved deli and bakery at 1200 S Dale Mabry Hwy will continue to operate with the same commitment to quality and community values. The menu and catering services will remain unchanged.
Wright's, established in 1963 by Marjorie and Pete Wright, has been managed by their grandson Jeff Mount, who is now retiring.
Caspers Company, known for managing Tampa’s Oxford Exchange, Casa Cami, and The Stovall House, assures that they will preserve the heritage and excellence of Wright’s Gourmet House.

Tampa Bay Shelters Share Tips to Calm Dogs During July 4 Fireworks

As July 4 approaches, Tampa Bay shelters share strategies to calm skittish dogs during fireworks. Sunshine Puppies and SPCA Tampa Bay emphasize updating pet IDs.
Mary Ann Engelmann of Sheldegren Pet Resort uses loud music, blankets over crates, and pairs calm dogs with anxious ones.
Medications like Valium, Xanax, and natural remedies such as Adaptil, Zylkene, and CBD products also help.
The Humane Society recommends ThunderShirts, which mimic swaddling, costing $25-$50.
Scott Trebatoski of Hillsborough Pet Resource Center advises creating safe spaces at home with blankets and toys, and allowing dogs to hide.
SPCA Tampa Bay suggests closing blinds, using TV or radio, and playing white noise to mask fireworks. These tips aim to reduce pet anxiety during the Independence Day celebrations.
One unexpected and striking fact about canine anxiety with fireworks is that dogs can hear frequencies as high as 65,000 Hz, compared to humans who can hear up to 20,000 Hz.
This means that fireworks, which produce high-pitched sounds and loud booms, can be extremely overwhelming and distressing for dogs.
This heightened sensitivity to sound contributes significantly to their anxiety during fireworks displays.
Does Your Business Have an Interesting Story to Tell?

An 11-year-old girl from River Rouge, Michigan, lost her right hand and forearm after mistakenly lighting an illegal explosive device, initially thought to be a firework.
The device exploded when Caitlyn and her twin sister tried to stop it in a bathroom sink. Caitlyn’s mother, Jaminique Conway, expressed the family's distress, while her aunt, Erica Dickerson, provided immediate aid by tying a tourniquet. The explosion caused extensive damage, rendering their home uninhabitable.
The explosive device, belonging to the girls' grandfather, was left unsupervised. Although he was arrested, no charges were pressed. Caitlyn has been released from the hospital but faces a long recovery.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by the River Rouge Police to assist with medical expenses and housing needs. The police department urges the public to exercise caution with explosives to prevent similar tragedies.

End of an Era: Stamkos Leaves Tampa Bay, Fans in Shock

Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien BriseBois's decision to let Steven Stamkos leave marks the end of a significant era. Stamkos, a beloved figure with sixteen years in a Lightning uniform, departs with four Eastern Conference titles and two Stanley Cups.
This move, unlike past reluctant departures of local legends, was strategic. The Lightning cleared salary cap space and traded for Jake Guentzel, aiming to get younger, deeper, and stronger on defense. Despite fans' disappointment, BriseBois believes this approach will secure future success.
Key changes include acquiring Guentzel and Ryan McDonagh, and clearing cap space for more depth. The success of these decisions will heavily impact BriseBois's legacy, especially when the postseason arrives.
