One unexpected and striking fact about Naval Aviation is that the first aircraft carrier ever built by the U.S. Navy, the USS Langley (CV-1), was actually converted from a collier ship named the USS Jupiter.

This transformation took place in 1920, marking a significant milestone in naval aviation history. The conversion involved adding a flight deck and hangar space, allowing the ship to launch and recover aircraft, and it paved the way for the development of future aircraft carriers that became crucial to naval operations.

Tampa's Plane Spotters: Capturing the Art of Aviation Photography

Dalton Hoch and Steven Larson are dedicated plane spotters frequently seen at Tampa International Airport, where they capture striking photos of aircraft.

Tampa International Airport supports this passion with The Plane Spot, a Facebook group boasting over 20,000 members worldwide. This group allows enthusiasts to share images of unique planes and liveries from various airports. Additionally, The Plane Spot offers airfield tours, giving members close-up views of aircraft during takeoffs and landings.

Through plane spotting, Hoch and Larson have built connections with fellow aviation lovers across the globe, fostering a unique sense of community and friendship.

Carter Long Launches Tailored Home Match Platform for Floridians

Carter Long has launched Finding Floridians, a personalized home and apartment matching platform for the Bay Area. Inspired by her popular social media home tours, the platform tailors matches based on users' lifestyles and budgets through a detailed quiz. Users answer questions about walkability, proximity to amenities, preferred locations, and commute preferences.

The platform is free, supported by partnerships with local businesses. After receiving matches, Long personally assists with the next steps.

Users can create accounts for access to all available listings in their matched neighborhoods. Long aims to help both new and native Floridians find their perfect homes and live their best lives.

She plans to expand the platform across the state and add direct listings from apartment complexes and property owners.
