Ybor City's Ten Rooms Closes After Three Months

Ten Rooms, located at 1536 E 7th Ave. in Ybor City, closed permanently after three months of operation. Opened in April in the historic El Centro Español de Tampa, the dining and retail hub ceased operations on July 7. Majority investor Third Lake Capital announced the closure to employees the following day, citing the tough restaurant industry as a factor.

Ten Rooms, led by Ro Patel and Zach Pace, featured a restaurant, cocktail bar, vendor space, and coffee shop. The venture faced legal challenges last summer with Chef Ebbe Vollmer, which were settled in February. Despite its brief run, Ten Rooms aimed to bring a unique culinary and retail experience to the area.

Savor Smoky Flavors and Smooth Spirits at Busch Gardens’ Bourbon & BBQ Fest

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is launching the Bourbon & BBQ Festival, held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 19 to September 2. This event features 12 new BBQ dishes and over 25 hand-crafted cocktails, all included with park admission. Guests can enjoy live music from local bands on the Coke Stage and explore family-friendly activities, animal encounters, and thrilling rides like the Serengeti Flyer and the upcoming Phoenix Rising coaster.

The festival menu includes:

  • Glazed Pulled Turkey with Cherry Coke BBQ sauce

Greg Sankey Highlights SEC's Future and Industry Challenges at Media Days

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey addressed the SEC Media Days in Dallas, marking the start of the league’s first football season as a 16-team league.

He emphasized updating expectations for college athletics, with Texas and Oklahoma joining the powerhouse SEC. Sankey highlighted the recent settlement involving the NCAA and power conferences, which includes $2.8 billion in damages and a commitment to share athletic revenue with athletes. He warned against relinquishing control for financial gain, subtly referencing private equity interests, and stressed the SEC’s intent to remain a 16-team league. Amid extensive realignment, Sankey reaffirmed the SEC’s stability, historical rivalries, and geographic identity.

He noted the challenges posed by external pressures and stressed the need for internal solutions to navigate these changes.
