GOOD MORNING

The Theme-Park article is a fun one. I didn’t know Dollywood was known for its food, but I can vouch for Silver Dollar City being a fun park in a beautiful setting in southwest Missouri.

Have a great day!

Tampa Unveils Digital Tracker to Encourage Cycling on Expanding

Green Spine

The City of Tampa has installed its first Eco-Counter display at North Boulevard and West Cass Street. This digital unit uses camera sensors to track and display the number of pedestrians and cyclists in real-time, providing daily and yearly totals. The Eco-Counter promotes active transportation and supplies the city with crucial data to analyze usage trends along the Green Spine.

This initiative aims to encourage more residents to choose biking over driving, contributing to healthier living and informed urban planning. Tampa currently offers over 130 miles of bike facilities, with ongoing expansion projects like the West Riverwalk and Green Spine extensions. These developments will improve connectivity across multiple neighborhoods with safer streets, sidewalks, and protected bike lanes.

Additionally, Quick Build projects are adding new bicycle paths, all in line with Tampa’s M.O.V.E.S. Plan, which focuses on creating a safer, healthier, and more connected city.

Semaglutide Reduces Major Cardiovascular Risks in Patients with Obesity and Heart Failure

A study in The Lancet reveals that semaglutide, a weight-loss drug, significantly reduces major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with obesity and a history of heart failure.

Part of the SELECT trial, the research involved 17,604 adults aged 45 and older, all with a BMI of 27 kg/m² or higher and established cardiovascular disease. Participants were given either semaglutide or a placebo over 16 weeks.

Semaglutide led to notable improvements in outcomes, reducing MACEs and heart failure-related events across different subgroups, regardless of heart failure type, age, sex, or BMI.

The benefits appeared within six months and were sustained throughout the study, with fewer serious side effects reported among those on semaglutide. These findings support the use of semaglutide to lower cardiovascular risks in patients with obesity and heart failure.

Discover Hidden Theme Parks Across America You’ve Never Heard Of

Escape the crowds at big-name theme parks by visiting these lesser-known gems across the U.S.

Dollywood in Tennessee offers rustic charm with thrilling rides like the Lightning Rod, the world’s fastest wooden coaster, set against the scenic Smoky Mountains. Busch Gardens in Virginia and Florida blends European culture with adrenaline-pumping roller coasters. Knoebels in Pennsylvania is a family-friendly park with free admission and the world’s top-ranked wooden coaster, The Phoenix.

Knott’s Berry Farm in California features exciting rides like the Hangtime, boasting the state’s steepest drop. Silver Dollar City in Missouri is perfect for thrill-seekers, with record-breaking coasters and a magical Christmas transformation. Finally, Cliff’s Amusement Park in New Mexico offers classic rides like the top-rated New Mexico Rattler and a refreshing water park.

These parks provide a fun-filled experience without the long lines and high costs of more famous destinations.

An unexpected fact about theme parks, especially relevant given your location in Florida—a global hub for theme park enthusiasts—is that many of the scents you encounter in theme parks are artificially created and strategically placed to enhance the visitor experience. For example, at certain theme parks, scent machines disperse the smells of fresh popcorn, vanilla, or sea breeze at different attractions or along the main streets to create a memorable atmosphere or encourage visitors to purchase food. This use of controlled scents is part of a broader strategy known as "sensory theming" which aims to engage all the senses, making the theme park experience more immersive and enjoyable.

Tampa Bay Rays Offer Free Tickets

to Fans Trying New Facial

Recognition Entry

The Tampa Bay Rays are offering two free tickets to fans who use MLB’s new "Go-Ahead Entry" facial recognition technology at Tropicana Field between August 30 and September 5. Fans 18 or older can enroll by taking a selfie in the MLB Ballpark app, which allows hands-free stadium entry.

After attending a game with this system, fans will receive a code for two complimentary tickets to any remaining home game.

Gate 7 will be exclusively for "Go-Ahead Entry," with additional lanes at Gates 1, 5, and 6. Traditional ticket scanning remains available at other gates. Each fan is limited to one pair of free tickets, regardless of the number of games attended.

The Rays assure that facial scans are deleted after verification, and fans can opt out of the program at any time.
