Plea Agreements Reached in UF Pro-Palestinian Protest Arrests

Two University of Florida students, Keely Nicole Gliwa, 23, and Roseanna Yashoda Bisram, 20, accepted plea deals after being arrested during a pro-Palestinian protest on April 29. Both pleaded no contest to resisting an officer without violence and will avoid jail under a deferred prosecution agreement, provided they pay court fees, donate to charity, and avoid further arrests for six months.
The protest, which led to nine arrests, opposed Israeli military actions in Gaza.
Gliwa and Bisram remain suspended from UF and are banned from campus for three years.
Another protester, Jinx Rooney, has yet to accept a plea deal, while Allan Hektor Frasheri, 21, faces a felony charge for spitting on a police officer.
The university had warned against behaviors like amplified voices or protesting inside buildings.

Svetozar Ivanov Brings Beethoven and Poetry to Life in "I Am" Recital

Svetozar Ivanov, renowned pianist, will perform his solo recital titled "I Am" on October 5th at 4 p.m. at the Barness Recital Hall, part of the College of the Arts.
This captivating program will feature a unique blend of audio vignettes inspired by poetry, alongside a performance of Beethoven’s iconic final piano sonata, Op. 111.
As part of the 2024-2025 season, tickets for this recital are free of charge, available on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure seating, patrons are encouraged to arrive early, as seating is limited. The lobby will open one hour before the event, and doors to the recital hall will open approximately 30 minutes prior to the performance.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness Ivanov's musical artistry in an intimate setting.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach to Welcome Guests Again Starting November 4

Disney World has announced the reopening of Blizzard Beach Water Park on November 4, after completing refurbishment. The winter-themed park, designed to resemble a melting ski resort, blends snowy aesthetics with Florida’s warm weather, just in time for the holiday season.
Blizzard Beach features attractions such as the "Frozen"-themed Tike’s Peak for kids, the high-speed Summit Plummet slide, and the relaxing Cross Country Creek lazy river.
Along with the park's reopening, Disney has reintroduced its Water Parks Seasonal Pass, offering unlimited visits to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon through May 23, 2025.

The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art in St. Petersburg, Florida, holds an astonishing and perhaps lesser-known fact: it was founded by Tom and Mary James, who amassed one of the world's most comprehensive private collections of Western and wildlife art.
The museum showcases over 400 works from their collection, which they began gathering in the 1960s. This collection includes paintings, sculptures, and mixed media works that not only highlight the traditional American West but also feature a variety of wildlife art, depicting animals and landscapes from around the globe.
This extensive collection is unique in its focus and scale, making the James Museum a notable cultural treasure in the Tampa Bay area.
