USF Planner Sounds Alarm on Tampa Bay's Flood Future

Steven Fernandez, an Associate Instructor at the University of South Florida, highlights rising sea levels, noting Tampa Bay’s waters have increased by eight inches over the past 50 years.

Fernandez explains that areas previously unaffected by flooding are now seeing significant impacts. The problem is worsened by urban development. To mitigate future flooding, Fernandez stresses the need for more drainage systems and retention ponds.

Coming Spring 2025: Busch Gardens Introduces Wild Oasis Adventure Realm

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has announced the opening of its newest attraction, the Wild Oasis realm, set to debut in spring 2025. Located in the park's Jungala area, this new realm promises to be North America’s most immersive and interactive adventure experience. 

Designed to engage all ages, the Wild Oasis will feature sensory-rich attractions, including a reimagined drop tower with cutting-edge digital effects, a multi-level climbing canopy, and an interactive water-play area for cooling off.

Guests will also enjoy up-close encounters in a new multi-species animal habitat.

Instagram Tightens Restrictions for Teen Users Amid Safety Concerns

As of Sept. 17, 2024, Instagram has introduced stricter "teen accounts" to enhance safety for users under 18. These changes aim to limit who can contact teens, control the content they see, and reduce screen time. New teen accounts will be automatically private, and existing accounts will migrate to this setup in the coming weeks.

Key updates include restrictions on messaging, sensitive content, tagging, and a new "sleep mode" that blocks notifications at night. Teens aged 16-17 can opt out of these settings, but those under 16 need parental consent.

Meta, Instagram’s parent company, is also addressing concerns over fake ages by requiring more verification and automatically placing deceptive accounts into restricted teen settings.

Mysterious Triangle UFO Spotted Over Downtown Tampa

A mysterious UFO sighting has sparked widespread buzz after a strange triangular object was spotted flying over downtown Tampa last night. Videos posted on social media show the odd shape moving quickly across the night sky, causing onlookers to stop and stare. The object was seen floating above Bayshore, Davis Island, and downtown Tampa, moving erratically from side to side.

Witnesses are debating whether the object was truly an unidentified flying object or something more explainable. Tampa, known for frequent UFO sightings, remains a hotspot for such unexplained aerial phenomena.
