One little-known fact about the end of hurricane season is that, while the official end date is November 30th, the Atlantic basin has seen several late-season hurricanes in December and even January.

In fact, research shows that late-season storms have become more frequent in recent years, likely due to warmer ocean temperatures persisting later into the year, catching some residents off guard who might assume the risk has entirely passed by late November.

New Kohl’s Store Opens Near Tampa Premium Outlets

The new Kohl’s store at 1854 Sun Vista Pl., behind Tampa Premium Outlets, has drawn mixed online reviews, with some comparing it to discount chains like Ross and TJ Maxx. However, a visit reveals a more upscale experience, closer to Macy’s or Dillard’s, but with lower prices.

The store also offers well-organized departments. Kohl's has clear organization and product labeling throughout.

Grillsmith at Wiregrass: Comfort Food

and Patio Bliss

After too many articles on Helene and Milton, that now infamous pair of blowhards who graced our Tampa Bay area with poor manners, I’m thrilled to share some good news about our delightful dining experience at Grillsmith, located at the Shops of Wiregrass.

From start to finish, it was a perfect evening. It started with a smiling greeting at the front desk, graciously accommodating the inclusion of our well-behaved Schnauzer on the patio, our most pleasant waitress, and then the coup de grace: our meal.

I apologize for only taking one photo but this was just the beginning of my taste experience: delicious pumpkin crab bisque garnished with almond slices, shallots and butter, accompanied by their very drinkable red sangria.

Being of mid-western upbringing, I frequently turn to meatloaf and mashed potatoes, this time accompanied by grilled spinach. A meal that really hit the spot.

Being the perfect time of year to dine outside, we'll be returning - soon - for sure.

Wiregrass Ranch Bulls Stay Undefeated with Tough Win Over Springstead

Ian Wilson led the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls to a gritty 14-3 victory over Springstead on Friday, overcoming two weeks of weather disruptions. The senior running back rushed for 62 yards and scored both touchdowns, helping the Bulls (7-0) stay perfect.

Wilson’s 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 3-yard score late in the game sealed the win. “I've only got three more games left,” he said. “I’ve got to let everything out on the field.”

Senior Bryce Randolph shined on both sides of the ball with two interceptions and a game-high 86 receiving yards. His defensive plays set up both Bulls touchdowns, while the offensive line closed out the game with a clock-draining final drive.

Springstead (6-1) managed just a field goal, with Wiregrass’ defense holding them at bay.
