Celebrate Fall with Carnival Rides and Family Fun in Wesley Chapel

The Wesley Chapel Fall Festival & Carnival returns October 26-27 at Tampa Premium Outlets, offering family fun for $5. The event will feature carnival rides, starting early on October 24, along with food trucks, live performances, and a Kids Zone sponsored by Premier Martial Arts. Activities include bounce houses, pony rides, face painting, and a pumpkin patch.
Visitors can enjoy costume contests, a Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, and a business expo showcasing over 60 local vendors with giveaways and raffles. With more than 10,000 attendees expected, the festival supports local businesses and has raised over $100,000 for charity since 2020. Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Failed Pumps Blamed for North Tampa's Flooding Disaster

North Tampa residents are struggling after Hurricane Milton’s flooding damaged homes, with many blaming pump failures for the devastation. Gwendolyn Torres shared that her family, including members with special needs, was rescued by the National Guard when water surged from a nearby retention pond.
Despite the area being deemed low-risk, many homes were flooded. Torres noted that in 25 years, the retention pond had never overflowed and accused failed pumps and generators, especially at Curiosity Creek, for the damage.
City officials attributed the flooding to the hurricane’s historic rainfall but acknowledged pump power issues in Forest Hills. A generator at Curiosity Creek failed to activate during the storm.
A community meeting with Mayor Jane Castor, Councilman Luis Viera, and FEMA is scheduled for October 24 to address concerns and discuss recovery plans.

Illusionists Find Refuge on Stage After Losing Everything to Hurricane

Illusionists Chris and Ryan Zubrick, known for their magical performances, faced their toughest challenge yet after Hurricane Milton flooded their St. Petersburg home. With nowhere else to turn, they found refuge at the Zubrick Magic Theatre, where they’ve performed since 2021. The couple and their 7-year-old son, Oliver, slept on an air mattress center stage, transforming the theater into a temporary home.
Despite losing everything, they continued entertaining, giving hope to fellow storm-affected residents. “It’s not easy,” said Chris, “but this is our home away from home.” The couple, previously performers in Guam and Saipan, had never experienced devastation like this.
Now, as they prepare for their first show since the storm, they encourage the community to support their craft by buying tickets, with donated tickets also being given to those in need. Their Holiday Spectacular begins on November 15.

Bucs’ Loss to Ravens Turns Dire as Key Players Go Down

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a tough 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, compounded by devastating injuries. Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle in the final minute, ending his season, while Mike Evans exited earlier with a hamstring injury. Now, the Bucs face a crucial matchup against the Falcons with their top receivers sidelined.
Lamar Jackson led the Ravens, throwing for 281 yards and five touchdowns, while Derrick Henry rushed for 169 yards. The Bucs' defense struggled, further weakened by injuries, with cornerback Jamel Dean on injured reserve and safety Tykee Smith leaving due to a possible concussion.
A missed opportunity came when Evans dropped a potential touchdown before aggravating his hamstring, followed by a Mayfield interception. Despite a resilient first quarter, the Bucs’ performance faded, raising concerns for their playoff hopes. With key players hurt, Sunday’s game against Atlanta is a must-win for Tampa Bay's division aspirations.
