New Tampa Murder Case Update:

Second Suspect Arrested After Deadly Intersection Shooting

Hillsborough County authorities have arrested a second suspect in the fatal shooting of Kyle Prisco, 24, who was killed in broad daylight at a New Tampa intersection on June 17. The shooting occurred at the busy corner of Regents Park Drive and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

The first suspect, Terrance Robinson, 34, was taken into custody in Ohio on July 3 and faces charges as an accessory after the fact. The second suspect, identified as Forrest Jackson, 34, was reportedly the gunman. He was apprehended in Jamaica and extradited to the U.S. on Friday.

Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed gratitude for the cooperation among law enforcement agencies, including the United States Marshals Service, Border Patrol, and Miami-Dade Police Department, in securing Jackson’s arrest.

Pasco Residents Demand Flood Solutions, Express Frustration at Town Hall

DADE CITYPasco County residents, struggling with severe flooding from hurricanes Helene and Milton, filled the Dade City Courthouse on Oct. 24, pressing officials for answers and support. With many homes still unlivable, residents voiced frustration over the response and sought solutions for future flooding prevention.

County Administrator Mike Carballa and other officials addressed debris removal, road closures, and flood control. Several residents argued that rapid development, especially in Zephyrhills and Dade City, worsened flooding, with some calling for a pause on new projects.

Public Works Manager Larry Alcaide said efforts to reduce flooding continue, though water levels are hindering full access. Emergency Management Director Andrew Fossa attributed the flooding to a potential "500-year event," with an estimated $1 billion in damage and over 6,000 structures impacted.

Carballa urged patience, noting recovery will take months, if not years.

Travelers Beware: Scammers Exploiting Crowds with Digital Payment Theft

Visa’s latest report, "State of Scams: Fall 2024," warns of rising scams targeting consumers and travelers, including the emerging tactic of “digital pickpocketing.

Here, scammers use mobile payment devices to discreetly tap wallets in crowded areas, making tourists prime targets.

Michael Jabbara, Visa’s head of fraud services, suggests activating real-time alerts for fast detection of unauthorized charges and advises vigilance in busy spaces.

The report also highlights travel-related scams, including fake airline sites and cancellation emails used to steal payment information. Jabbara recommends two-factor authentication and alerts to help consumers stay protected against evolving scams.

Lightning Legend Stamkos Set for Emotional Reunion with Tampa Fans

TAMPA — Monday night at Amalie Arena will be a night of cheers, nostalgia, and likely some tears, as former Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos returns for the first time as an opposing player. Now with the Nashville Predators, Stamkos’ homecoming is expected to be one of the most heartfelt moments in the franchise’s history.

Over his 15-year career with the Lightning, Stamkos became a city icon, delivering memorable performances, including a two-time Stanley Cup victory. Fans remember his two-minute comeback in the 2020 finals as an unforgettable scene that epitomized his dedication. More than a player, Stamkos was a community pillar, often engaging with local charities and fostering a family-like culture in the locker room.

Although the Lightning didn’t re-sign Stamkos, his legacy endures. Monday night will be a chance for fans to honor that legacy, celebrating one of Tampa’s all-time favorites.
