Issue #244: Special Edition! (#2) Tampa Bay Symphony and Red Bull Flugtag Tampa 2024

Keep your finger on the Pulse!
GOOD MORNING!
Surprise - This is a SPECIAL EDITION highlighting two events this past weekend: the Tampa Bay Symphony performing at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center Friday evening and the Red Bull FlugTag Tampa 2024 at the Tampa Convention Center Saturday.
Having the TBS performing at NTPAC was a very nice, intimate setting for all to enjoy the sounds of this talented local orchestra. I have a few photos to share of the performance.
The Red Bull event was quite an adventure as I was granted media access giving me a much better view of the craziness than I would have had planted amongst the huge crowd there. Since it was 2011 since Red Bull was last here, I thought it worth checking out to see what all the fuss was about. I have photos and video to share with you.
At the bottom of the newsletter, please share your thoughts about this issue.
Enjoy!

Final Words

The Tampa Bay Symphony:
at the New Tampa Performing Arts Center

This was my first view of an intriguing metal installation in front of our New Tampa Performing Arts Center. Beautiful at night.
Virtuosic Adventures
Half the fun of attending the concert was listening to the interpretation of how each piece was to unfold for us. To make his explanation even more meaningful he had the orchestra play key sections to illustrate his points.

Christina Condon
The Rhapsody for Flute and Orchestra by Pasquale Tassone was accompanied by the talented Christina Condon who has performed professionally prior to her joining TBS. The piece was challenging but beautifully done by Christina.
This was only one of the 3 pieces performed for us that evening. The sound without amplification was excellent, a tribute to the quality of our NTPAC for the artists who perform for our community. I look forward to many more relaxing performances.

2024
Everyone attending had the opportunity to get a closeup look at the creativity that went into both the flight “contraptions” but also the costuming worn by the crews. Talking to the crews was part of the fun, especially knowing that all were about to take a “dip” into the dark and rather ominous waters of the Garrison Channel in a few hours.

I think you can tell that fun was had by all. Although the weather was good, the heat was challenging but the entertainment was unsurpassed. Red Bull will be back in 2025 - will it bring the flight that breaks the record books?
