Philanthropy in Partnership: The Tampa Legacy of Chronister & DeBartolo

Sheriff Chad Chronister and Nikki DeBartolo have not only made Tampa their home but also a central part of their lives and philanthropic mission. Attending up to seven community events weekly, the pair channels their efforts through the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the DeBartolo Family Foundation, supporting local causes like the Boys & Girls Clubs, St. Jude’s, and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
From addressing urgent needs in the wake of hurricanes to supporting local youth through scholarships and programs, Chronister and DeBartolo prioritize causes that directly impact Tampa residents. For them, serving the community is as much a partnership as it is a personal mission. “I love how this community takes care of each other,” says Chronister.
Despite their busy schedules, the couple values their time together—whether volunteering, enjoying quiet weekends, or escaping to vacation homes. Ultimately, they say, Tampa will always be their base and the community they serve.

Tampa Bay Rays Face Possible Move to Spring Training Stadium for 2025 Season

The Tampa Bay Rays are likely to relocate to a spring training stadium for the 2025 MLB season after Hurricane Milton severely damaged Tropicana Field’s roof. Repairing the roof would cost an estimated $56 million, and with the team set to move to a new stadium by 2028, the city is hesitant to fund these temporary repairs.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred supports keeping the Rays in the Tampa area, making BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater and Steinbrenner Field in Tampa top contenders for the team’s temporary home. While smaller, these venues could offer a unique, close-up fan experience, though Florida’s summer heat may challenge comfort.
With the Oakland Athletics also set to play in a minor league park, MLB 2025 will see two teams in unconventional settings.
