Tropicana Field Exposed: Photos Show Post-Storm Aftermath

Damage is far worse than depicted above

The Tampa Bay Rays have released striking photos showing the aftermath of Hurricane Milton’s devastating impact on Tropicana Field. The storm, which tore through the area on Oct. 9, ripped the roof off the stadium, leaving significant damage in its wake.

The images reveal the interior of Tropicana Field with debris scattered across the venue. Sections of the roof are completely missing, exposing parts of the field and seating areas to the elements. While the extent of the damage is still being assessed, the Rays are working with local authorities and contractors to determine the next steps for repairs.

How a Tampa Influencer Fell Victim to a Growing Cyber Scam

Cyber crime hits local influencer

A Tampa woman is warning others after hackers seized her bank accounts, social media profiles, and phone.

Vanessa Cahuas, a court translator, real estate agent, and social media influencer, has a large following in Tampa’s Hispanic community. Her platform, Licencia Para Divertirse, highlights local events and businesses. Recently, hackers used her accounts to post fraudulent cryptocurrency schemes.

Cahuas believes the breach began after she clicked a fake login notification. “It was like a horror movie,” she said, describing how hackers quickly took control.

Cybersecurity expert Roger Grimes of Clearwater-based KnowBe4 says account takeovers happen 35,000 times daily, often through social engineering.

To stay safe, experts recommend avoiding suspicious notifications, strengthening passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and using password managers. Cahuas hopes sharing her experience will prevent others from falling victim to similar scams.

High-Tech Security Upgrade: Robodogs Deployed by Secret Service

The U.S. Secret Service has introduced a new high-tech addition to its security measures: robotic dogs. These advanced machines, created by Boston Dynamics, are being used to patrol the grounds of Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump’s private resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

The four-legged robots are designed to enhance perimeter security at the resort, a location of frequent visits by Trump and a recent attempted assassination in September. While these robodogs are unarmed, they can be remotely operated or programmed to function autonomously.

The robots are not just practical but also unmistakably identifiable, with each leg prominently marked with the cautionary label, "DO NOT PET." This ensures onlookers are aware of their professional role in surveillance and security.

By integrating cutting-edge technology into their operations, the Secret Service is taking steps to bolster the safety of high-profile locations.

Ben Bishop Knew Early: Vasilevskiy Was Bound for Greatness

When the Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Andrei Vasilevskiy in 2012, the organization saw immense potential in the young Russian goalie. Twelve years later, Vasilevskiy has more than delivered, leading Tampa Bay to back-to-back Stanley Cups (2020, 2021), winning a Vezina Trophy (2019), and becoming the fastest goalie in NHL history to reach 300 career wins in just 490 games.

Former Lightning goalie Ben Bishop, who mentored Vasilevskiy early in his career, saw his greatness immediately. “I had never seen anything like it,” Bishop said, recalling Vasilevskiy’s first practice.

Bishop admired Vasilevskiy’s hunger to learn and his blend of athleticism, speed, and focus. Off the ice, Vasilevskiy’s playful side brought levity to the locker room, but his dedication and work ethic set him apart.

“The time and effort he’s put in is why he’s one of the best,” Bishop said. “He’s going to go down as one of the greatest.”
