Sun-Ray Cinema Brings 10-Screen Theater and Gourmet Kitchen to Tampa

Tampa is gearing up for a cinematic upgrade as Sun-Ray Cinema, a Jacksonville favorite, announces its newest location at 12322 University Mall Court. Set to open December 11, the venue combines immersive films with a unique dining experience, boasting a massive 4,000-square-foot kitchen.

The theater will initially launch with three screens, showcasing movies like Moana 2, Wicked, and Nightbitch, along with a festive holiday lineup. Eventually, all ten screens will be operational, offering diverse films and events, including a Les Blank retrospective honoring Tampa’s filmmaking heritage.

Guests can pre-order food and drinks in the lobby, with orders delivered directly to their seats—no phones or hassle required.

Opening night features a live Nosferatu screening accompanied by composer Jozef Van Wissem. Tickets, priced at $15, go on sale next week. Follow Sun-Ray Cinema on Facebook for updates.

Santoro’s Thanksgiving Pizza Is Tampa’s Holiday Craze

Forget pumpkin pie—Santoro’s Pizza is redefining holiday feasting in Tampa with its viral sensation: the Thanksgiving Pizza.

This unconventional creation features roasted turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and a cranberry drizzle, all atop their signature “no-flop” Jersey-style crust.

Owner Travis Kaiser, a New Jersey native, introduced the Thanksgiving Pizza a few years ago, but this year it has taken off, fueled by Instagram buzz and the Friendsgiving trend. “We like to have fun during the holidays, but this has been unbelievable,” Kaiser shared.

Santoro’s, inspired by the rich pizza culture of Central Jersey, brings authentic flavors and a cozy vibe to Tampa. Named after Kaiser’s son, the pizzeria has become a local favorite for its innovative offerings and genuine hospitality.

Available only through Wednesday, the Thanksgiving Pizza is perfect for Friendsgiving or reheating on Turkey Day.

Tampa Dentist Admits to Sending Threats to Public Figures and Election Official

A Tampa dentist, Richard Kantwill, has pleaded guilty to sending over 100 threats to public figures and an election official over five years. These messages, delivered through social media, email, and text, targeted individuals for their political views.

Court records show Kantwill sent the threats in two periods: September 2019 to July 2020, and April 2022 to April 2024. One was directed at an election official on February 9, 2024.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of interstate transmission of threats, each carrying up to five years in prison. Sentencing will be scheduled later.

FBI officials labeled Kantwill’s actions a “campaign of terror,” stressing the illegality of using electronic communication to threaten others. The Justice Department reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public servants from intimidation, as the FBI continues to investigate the case.

Safety Tips

As the holiday season gets underway, Tampa Police are urging shoppers to prioritize safety while tackling their gift lists. Officers will increase patrols across the city, with police on bikes, motorcycles, patrol cars, and horseback ensuring a secure shopping experience.

To prevent theft, shoppers are advised to stay alert in crowded areas, avoid distractions like phone use, and keep belongings close. Parking in well-lit areas, locking vehicle doors, and concealing valuables are key steps to deter car break-ins. Shoppers like Jamie Hodge recommend tucking items under seats or using sun visors to keep packages out of sight.

Package thefts also rise during the holidays. To avoid issues, have trusted neighbors collect deliveries or use secure lockers for Amazon packages.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw emphasized vigilance and cooperation: “Report suspicious activity immediately to keep the season safe and joyful for everyone.”
