Hillsborough Sheriff Tapped to Lead DEA Under Trump Administration

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister to lead the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). With more than 32 years in law enforcement, Chronister is known for his dedication to public safety and his effective leadership since becoming Hillsborough County’s top officer in 2017.

Trump praised Chronister on his ability to address drug trafficking, border security, and the flow of illegal drugs like fentanyl. Chronister has been re-elected twice, showcasing his strong support from the community.

Calling the nomination an "honor of a lifetime," Chronister expressed his readiness to serve at the national level. If confirmed, he will tackle the critical challenges of drug enforcement and border control to protect communities nationwide.

Travel + Leisure Names St. Augustine Florida’s Most Romantic Destination

Downtown St. Augustine has been crowned Florida’s most romantic destination by a new Travel + Leisure list identifying the top romantic spots in every U.S. state.

Situated on Florida’s northeast coast, St. Augustine enchants visitors with its brick-lined streets, centuries-old architecture, horse-drawn carriages, and secluded courtyards. The city's European charm and golden-sand beaches, coupled with its rich history and pleasant year-round weather, make it an ideal choice for romantic outings.

Travel + Leisure highlighted the city's historic downtown, teeming with restaurants, bars, and boutique shops, as perfect for a memorable date night.

For those seeking additional romantic experiences: watching the sunset on St. Pete Beach, climbing the Key Biscayne lighthouse, or enjoying a gondola tour in Fort Lauderdale. From horseback riding on Amelia Island to seashell hunting on Sanibel Island, Florida offers endless options for couples looking to spark romance.

Bodycam Video Reveals Florida Man Firing 200+ Rounds at Condos

Newly released body camera footage reveals the chaotic moments when deputies responded to a Thanksgiving Day shooting in Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida.

The incident involved 56-year-old Joseph DiFusco Jr., a military veteran and convicted felon, who fired over 200 rounds at neighboring condos before being fatally shot by a SWAT sniper.

Gunshots echoed throughout the Kingston Shores Condominiums as deputies tried to de-escalate the situation, urging DiFusco to stop shooting. The video captures deputies under fire, with one remarking on the large amount of ammunition being used.

DiFusco reportedly fired shots for several hours, targeting patrol vehicles and damaging multiple condo units. Residents were evacuated as the standoff unfolded.

Authorities later revealed DiFusco had been experiencing severe mental health issues, including delusions and hallucinations, and had a pending court order for mental health intervention. No deputies or residents were injured during the ordeal.

Rays President Pushes Back on Pinellas County Over Stadium Deal Stalemate

Tampa Bay Rays President Matthew Silverman has addressed Pinellas County officials in a letter regarding the stalled $1.3 billion stadium deal. The letter comes after Pinellas County Commission Chair Kathleen Peters requested a decision by Dec. 1 on whether the team would proceed with the project or officially terminate it.

Silverman pushed back, asserting that the county, not the Rays, has fallen short in upholding the spirit of the agreement. He criticized the potential for future commission actions to revoke the approval granted in July or delay the project until 2029.

Despite team leaders previously suggesting the deal was effectively dead, Silverman clarified that the agreements remain legally valid unless formally terminated or expired. He emphasized that the Rays have met their obligations and are awaiting decisions from Pinellas County and the City of St. Petersburg to move forward.
