Pasco Tech High Schools to Add Sports Teams
by 2026

Pasco County's Krinn Technical High and Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation, known for their career-focused education, will soon introduce sports teams, following years of community requests. Previously, athletics weren’t offered to prioritize academics, but parents voiced concerns about the lack of extracurricular options.
Angeline Academy of Innovation, which opened in 2023, recently set the precedent by launching teams like volleyball and lacrosse. Its students can also participate in sports not offered at the school by joining teams at other district schools, thanks to a 2023 state law revision.
This rule will enable Krinn and Kirkland Ranch to introduce smaller sports programs without hindering students' participation elsewhere. Both schools are surveying students to identify their interests, with Krinn planning to add “gym sports” like basketball.
School officials believe the change will enhance school culture, boost student engagement, and make these institutions more attractive to families. Athletics, they say, provide valuable lessons in teamwork and community building.
Dave’s Hot Chicken Continues Expansion
in Pasco County

Fast-growing Nashville hot chicken chain Dave’s Hot Chicken is making its mark in Tampa Bay with plans for a new location in Odessa. The franchise, which already operates on N Dale Mabry Highway and at the Shops at Wiregrass, is tapping into Pasco County’s booming growth.
Founded in an East Hollywood parking lot, the chain has become a fast-casual favorite with over 100 locations nationwide. Known for its spicy “Reaper” hot sauce—requiring a waiver to try—Dave’s offers a customizable heat experience with spice levels ranging from Mild to Extra Hot.
The menu features chicken tenders, sliders, and sides like Mac & Cheese, Cheese Fries, and Kale Slaw, all crafted with halal chicken. Lieberman notes their product stands out for its quality, offering a crispy exterior and moist interior.

U.S. Soccer Star Trinity Rodman’s New Look
Wows Fans

U.S. Women’s National Team star Trinity Rodman is captivating fans both on and off the field. The 22-year-old soccer sensation, who helped secure the USWNT's gold medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympics, recently unveiled a bold new hairstyle on Instagram: striking red hair. Captioning the post with a simple “Hi,” Rodman’s vibrant look drew an outpouring of praise from fans.
“Beautiful color and style,” one commenter wrote, while another exclaimed, “I just fell to my knees.”
This isn’t Rodman’s first foray into unconventional hairstyles, a nod to her famous father, NBA icon Dennis Rodman, known for his colorful looks. Despite a distant relationship with her father, Trinity acknowledges his challenges and appreciates their shared athleticism.
Already a history-making star—becoming the youngest player ever drafted in the NWSL in 2021—Rodman continues to dazzle on and off the pitch, solidifying her reputation as a trailblazing athlete.

Pinellas Commissioners Demand Financial Proof from Rays Before Stadium Vote

Pinellas County commissioners are scrutinizing the Tampa Bay Rays’ proposed $1.3 billion stadium deal in St. Petersburg, drawing comparisons to the Oakland A’s recently approved Las Vegas stadium project.
Newly-elected Commissioner Chris Scherer emphasized withholding a vote until the Rays meet 11 specified conditions, including assurances of cash on hand or letters of credit. Commissioner Chair Kathleen Peters expressed doubts about receiving satisfactory responses.
The Rays claim delays in bond issuance have created a financial gap, but some commissioners remain skeptical, demanding evidence of the $50 million the team says it has already spent. Commissioner Vince Nowicki pointed to the A’s owner, who provided extensive financial documentation before receiving public funding in Las Vegas.
With four of seven commissioners undecided, the Rays have until March 31 to meet all conditions or risk losing the deal.
