Bay Area 8-Year-Old Becomes Published Author After Overcoming Reading Struggles

Eight-year-old Jonah Kubach has turned his reading struggles into an inspiring success story by becoming a published author. His book, Milo’s Great Masterpiece, is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

Jonah’s journey wasn’t easy. His mother, Priscila, recalls how he disliked reading and even avoided storytime at school. Determined to spark his interest, she explored everything—from dictionaries to car reviews and space books—until Jonah found his passion.

One day, Jonah announced he wanted to write a book. Priscila immediately supported him, helping him bring his story to life. With hard work and family support, Milo’s Great Masterpiece was self-published this past summer.

Experts, like USF’s Adelaida Restrepo, emphasize early intervention and parental involvement in addressing reading struggles. Jonah’s story is proof of the power of perseverance, creativity, and a parent’s unwavering support in overcoming challenges.

Former President Jimmy Carter Dies at 100: A Life of Service and Legacy

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 100. Known for his integrity and dedication to public service, Carter’s presidency from 1977 to 1981 focused on energy reform, diplomacy, and human rights.

Despite challenges such as soaring inflation and the Iran Hostage Crisis, Carter remained a symbol of humility and perseverance. After leaving office, he founded the Carter Center, dedicated to global conflict resolution, democracy, and disease prevention.

A lifelong advocate for affordable housing, Carter worked with Habitat for Humanity to help build over 4,000 homes in 14 countries. He also taught Sunday school well into his 90s, drawing visitors from across the nation.

Carter’s passing comes a year after the death of his beloved wife, Rosalynn. He is survived by his four children.

Bucky Irving Shines While an Unexpected Duck Steals the Spotlight in Bucs' Big Win

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie running back Bucky Irving made history on Sunday, surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season—the first Bucs rookie to do so since Doug Martin in 2012. Fans erupted in chants of “Bucky! Bucky!” as Irving continued his stellar performance.

However, the chants took a humorous turn when a mallard duck mysteriously appeared near the 20-yard line at Raymond James Stadium during the second half. The duck quickly became a crowd favorite, with fans switching to “Ducky! Ducky!” as it was safely escorted off the field.

Irving, known for his standout college career with the Oregon Ducks, finished the day with a memorable milestone, while the duck’s unexpected cameo added a lighthearted twist to the Bucs' 48-14 rout over the Carolina Panthers.

Linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka’s blocked punt and J.J. Russell’s touchdown recovery further highlighted Tampa Bay’s dominance.
