Tampa Honors 3-Time Gold Medalist Deliah Autry for Her Athletic and Community Impact

As Super Bowl LVII nears, Tampa celebrates hometown hero Deliah Autry, a three-time gold medalist with the USA Women’s Flag Football Team and a passionate community advocate.
Autry’s love for sports began at age 5 at local community centers, later excelling in flag football, basketball, and volleyball at T.R. Robinson High School. She went on to play at USF while also working with Tampa Parks and Recreation, coaching young athletes. After earning a master’s at Florida A&M, she returned home in 2020 to launch Camp13, a nonprofit that has hosted 15 flag football clinics, serving nearly 1,500 local kids.
Now 29, Autry continues to inspire with her achievements, including an upcoming MBA and a goal to compete in the 2028 Olympics. Her next free youth clinics will be held March 17 and August 1, with registration now open online.
Pasco Schools Plan Return to Graded Homework to Boost Performance

Pasco County students may soon see homework count toward their grades again. Superintendent John Legg announced plans to reverse the district’s 2022 policy, which barred graded homework, aiming to improve student performance.
“I believe in homework. I believe in deadlines,” Legg said, emphasizing that students must learn accountability. The district previously separated behavior from academic grading in 2017, but declining math and reading scores have prompted a reevaluation. Recent assessments show Pasco students performing below state averages.
The school board unanimously supports the change, with members noting that many students skipped homework since there were no consequences. The new rules, expected by the fourth quarter, will ensure assignments reinforce classroom lessons rather than introduce new material or serve as punishment.
Additionally, Legg has launched a review of the district’s math curriculum, aiming to align it more closely with state standards.
“We are preparing students for college, careers, and life,” board member Megan Harding said.
An astonishing fact about women's flag football is that the International Women's Flag Football Association (IWFFA), founded in 1997, has been instrumental in introducing and promoting the sport globally.
Since its inception, the IWFFA has established women's flag football teams in countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Afghanistan. This extensive international outreach has significantly contributed to the sport's growth and its inclusion in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

BayCare Nurses Use AI to Enhance Patient Care at St. Anthony’s Hospital

Nurses at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg are testing AI technology to improve patient care and reduce time spent on documentation. The pilot program, launched in December 2024, integrates Aiva Health’s Nurse Assistant, a voice-activated AI system that helps nurses record patient information more efficiently.
Nurse Ryorayne Ruby Gonzales says the technology allows her to spend less time at a computer and more time with patients. By speaking directly into the AI assistant, nurses can quickly log assessments, helping doctors and staff access important data faster.
Nurse Manager Liza Redmond says the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, calling the system a “game changer” for patient interaction. BayCare is evaluating AI’s role in healthcare but sees strong potential in enhancing efficiency while maintaining high-quality care.
Gonzales was also impressed that Aiva recognized her Filipino accent, easing concerns about language barriers.

Bucs Assistant GM Mike Greenberg Turns Down Jaguars, Stays in Tampa

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Assistant GM Mike Greenberg has decided to stay put, declining a potential GM interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Greenberg, widely respected for his salary cap expertise, was a top candidate for the Jets’ GM opening earlier this year and recently received interest from Jacksonville. According to sources, Greenberg initially entertained discussions with the Jaguars but ultimately declined a formal interview, citing his love for the Bucs organization and loyalty to GM Jason Licht and Team Glazer.
This is a huge win for Tampa Bay, as the Bucs already lost Assistant GM John Spytek to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason. Greenberg’s decision ensures stability in the team’s front office, which has been instrumental in past roster-building successes.
While he isn’t closing the door on future GM opportunities, for now, Greenberg remains a Buccaneer—to the delight of Bucs fans.
