Whole Foods Project in Wesley Chapel Moves Forward with Updated Plans

Plans for a Whole Foods-anchored upscale retail center in Wesley Chapel have been updated and submitted to Pasco County for review. The development, located at Meadow Pointe near Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, will feature high-end shops, ample parking, and a Life Time fitness center as a second major tenant.

The Whole Foods store is expected to be 35,518 square feet, slightly smaller than initial proposals. It will be joined by retail spaces totaling over 40,000 square feet. A previously planned third retail building has been removed.

Life Time, a luxury fitness club, will occupy an 84,500-square-foot two-story facility with pools, fitness rooms, and saunas. Though no pickleball courts are listed, Life Time has previously expressed interest in expanding its facilities for the sport.

The development is still under county review, and if approved, the project is expected to open by 2027.

FuelFest Tampa: A Must-Attend Event for Car & Movie Fans

Fans of The Fast and the Furious and high-octane car culture are in for a treat as FuelFest makes its Tampa debut on March 1 at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Spearheaded by Cody Walker, brother of the late Paul Walker, the event combines car exhibitions, live music, motorsports, and celebrity appearances.

Originally launched in 2018 to raise funds for Paul’s nonprofit, Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW), FuelFest has since grown into a global phenomenon. The festival has raised over $600,000 for disaster relief efforts, all while celebrating automotive culture.

FuelFest offers much more than a traditional car show. Attendees can expect drifting exhibitions, ride-alongs, Q&A sessions with industry stars, and even surprise guest appearances—past events have featured Tyrese Gibson, Vin Diesel, and Ludacris.

Tickets start at $30 and are available for purchase now. Don’t miss the chance to experience this adrenaline-fueled festival in Tampa!

USF Women’s Hoops Stays Hot, Tops Memphis Behind Puisis’ 34

Sammie Puisis delivered a career-best 34 points, leading South Florida (20-8, 13-2 AAC) to an 80-70 victory over Memphis on Saturday night at the Yuengling Center. The win extends the Bulls' nine-game winning streak and marks their 15th victory in the last 17 games.

Puisis shined from beyond the arc, knocking down six three-pointers, marking her 16th game this season with three or more threes. Carla Brito contributed a dominant double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds), while Mama Dembele dished out six assists, her 18th game with five or more assists.

USF took control with a 20-6 scoring run spanning the second and third quarters, extending their lead to as many as 16 points. Memphis had four players in double figures, led by Tilly Boler (18 points).

Next up, USF travels to Tulsa on Feb. 26, with tipoff set for 7:30 PM EST.

One astonishing but not widely known fact about women's college basketball is that the first-ever college basketball game played between two women's teams took place in 1896, just five years after the sport was invented.

On April 4, 1896, Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley faced off in what is considered the first women's intercollegiate basketball game.

Interestingly, no men were allowed to watch, as the game was played in front of an all-female audience due to societal norms at the time. Stanford won the game 2-1, a far cry from today's high-scoring contests!

This historic event paved the way for the growth of women's college basketball, which has since become one of the fastest-growing sports in the NCAA. 🏀🔥
