Safety Harbor Shines: Ranked Among South’s
Best Small Towns

Three Florida towns have landed on USA Today’s 10Best list of the South’s top small-town destinations, celebrated for offering "relaxing getaways, cultural immersion, outdoor adventures, and culinary delights." Among them, Safety Harbor ranked fifth, earning praise for its scenic waterfront and vibrant downtown filled with community events — a notable recognition as the town continues recovering from 2024 hurricanes.

Leading Florida’s trio was Inverness (No. 3), recognized for its charming downtown, Withlacoochee State Trail, and proximity to natural springs like Three Sisters Springs. Cocoa Beach followed at No. 8, known for its beachside vibe, surf culture, and access to the Kennedy Space Center.

These rankings are based on expert nominations of towns with under 25,000 residents, followed by public voting. The list places these Florida gems alongside national contenders like Starkville, Mississippi, which took the top Southern spot.

Safety Harbor’s small-town warmth and natural beauty continue to shine on the national stage.

Doechii, TEDx & MICHELIN Stars: Tampa's
Power-Packed May

Tampa’s May 2025 update is packed with momentum — from major corporate moves to national recognition and culinary milestones.

Strategic Property Partners (SPP) is relocating its HQ to Thousand & One in Water Street Tampa, opening Sparkman Wharf for fintech firm Velera. Meanwhile, Tampa rapper Doechii made history as Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year, following her Grammy win for Alligator Bites Never Heal.

On the food front, Cousin Vinny’s Sandwich Co. is one of four Tampa eateries added to the MICHELIN Guide Florida, earning the nod just two months after opening. Other newcomers include Big Ray’s Fish Camp, Fisk, and Mad Dogs & Englishmen.

TEDxTampa (already sold-out!) returns May 2 after a decade-long pause, bringing innovators to the Straz Center, including leaders from ReliaQuest and Tampa General. And in economics, Hillsborough County ranked 5th in Florida for GDP growth, boasting 12.9% business growth and anchoring Tampa Bay’s surging economy.

Meet Doctronic: The AI Agent Offering Real-Time Medical Support

AI health startup Doctronic has raised $5 million in seed funding led by Union Square Ventures, aiming to transform how people get medical advice online. Launched in September 2023 by serial entrepreneur Matt Pavelle and cofounder Adam Oskowitz, the platform provides fast, anonymous, and personalized symptom assessments, complete with follow-up plans and telehealth options.

Users receive AI-generated health insights from multiple AI "specialists," which are then validated by licensed clinicians. Starting at $39, video consultations are available 24/7 across all 50 states. The system routes queries through various large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) to ensure accurate assessments.

Doctronic competes in a booming field with players like Roon and OpenAI. With over 50,000 weekly users, it’s growing fast through organic search traffic and specialized landing pages. Though future partnerships may expand access, Pavelle says their focus remains firmly consumer-first — tackling the delays many face in the current healthcare system.

Hottest Trends

Makeup artist Megan Panwar shares her summer-proof routine, featuring Armani Beauty’s Luminous Silk Foundation, Saie’s Dew Bronze, and YSL’s waterproof mascara for glow without the meltdown.

Fashion meets function with picks like Schutz and Ancient Greek sandals, SAMMY’s Beaded Cage Bag, and bold sunglasses from brands like Valentino and illesteva. Top it off with playful hair clips shaped like lemons and margaritas for a splash of personality.
