GOOD MORNING
Computer fixed except for “swollen battery”? Yes, I couldn’t believe it either. If you leave your charge cord plugged in constantly, it overheats the battery causing it to swell and prematurely fail!

Tampa Targets North Downtown for Major Redevelopment Push

Tampa city leaders are launching a major redevelopment effort in the north downtown area, aiming to transform around four acres of city- and CRA-owned land, including the old Army-Navy Surplus Market site.
The Request for Proposals (RFP) targets mixed-use projects that incorporate affordable housing, with 750 homes planned—half of which will be income-restricted. Of those, 30% would be reserved for families of three earning under $70,000.
The site sits near the Ashley Drive on-ramp to I-275, which city planners hope to redesign to improve pedestrian safety and neighborhood connectivity.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor also announced plans for the streetcar system to expand northward, enhancing access to key destinations like Armature Works.
Local business owners, like Ali Kader of Pizza Kitchen, welcome the growth. “It’s always changing, always something new going on,” he said. City officials see the project as a catalyst for broader revitalization.
Pasco’s A+ Teacher Brings Business Skills
and Big Smiles

Chad Mallo, a teacher at Angeline Academy of Innovation in Land O’ Lakes, is being celebrated as this week’s A+ Teacher for his outstanding impact on students. Despite only being at the school for two years, Mallo has quickly become a favorite among students by bringing energy and humor to his entrepreneurship classes.
“I want them to be happy here,” said Mallo, who emphasizes building strong relationships and preparing students for life beyond school. His classes cover real-world skills like resume writing and job interviews, while also encouraging laughter and collaboration.
Before becoming a teacher, Mallo spent 20 years in banking but made a career switch after questioning whether he was making a meaningful difference. In 2024, he was named Pasco County Schools' CTE Teacher of the Year.
Mallo now mentors both students and fellow educators, driven by a simple mission: to make a lasting, positive impact.

Southwest Introduces 4 Fare Bundles, Ends Free Bags for Most

Southwest Airlines is introducing four new fare bundles—“basic,” “choice,” “choice preferred,” and “choice extra”—to launch in Q3 of 2025. The move marks a significant shift in the carrier’s long-standing fare model and aligns it more closely with other major airlines.
The top-tier option, “choice extra,” offers early boarding, two free checked bags, premium seat selection, and complimentary internet. In contrast, the other three fare levels will require additional fees for checked bags and Wi-Fi access.
Southwest also confirmed that checked bag fees will begin May 28 for non-premium fares, ending its signature “bags fly free” policy for most travelers. However, A-List Rapid Rewards members and Business Select passengers will still receive up to two free checked bags.
These updates follow Southwest’s earlier announcements of assigned seating and premium legroom seats, designed to offer more customizable travel options while maintaining its reputation for reliability and hospitality.

Steinbrenner Parking Alert: What You Need to Know Before First Pitch

Fans attending this week's Tampa Bay Rays vs. Kansas City Royals games at Steinbrenner Field should be aware of important parking changes. Due to setup for the Country Thunder festival (May 2–4), Lots 1–4 at Raymond James Stadium will be closed.
General parking has been redirected to Lots 5 and 7, located south of RayJay between Tampa Bay Boulevard and Columbus Drive. Accessible parking will be available in Lots 5 and 6D in the same vicinity.
For those using the premium lot at Steinbrenner, shuttle services will operate before and after each game.
Game times are set for 7:05 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday, and 1:10 p.m. on Thursday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and plan accordingly for the adjusted parking layout.
