“Flying Car” Wows Crowds at Tampa’s Riverwalk

Tampa’s skyline is witnessing a glimpse of the future this week as Pivotal debuts its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, often called a “flying car,” during Special Operations Forces Week.
The lightweight, all-electric craft—weighing just 380 pounds—flies up to 63 mph and runs on a battery-powered system allowing 20 minutes of flight per charge. With no wheels or landing gear, it launches and lands vertically, resembling something from science fiction.
CEO Ken Karklin envisions it as a future solution for daily commutes and emergency response. Eight models have already been sent to the U.S. Air Force, and Pivotal is eyeing municipal use by year’s end. Priced at $190,000, the aircraft doesn't require a pilot’s license, but users must complete specialized training.
Live demonstrations continue through Thursday at Tampa's Riverwalk, offering the public a rare, up-close view of what could become tomorrow’s transport norm.

Cheers to Mom: Tampa’s Best Mother’s Day Brunch & Dinner Spots

Looking to celebrate Mom in style? Tampa’s culinary scene has rolled out a rich lineup of brunches, dinners, and scenic experiences just in time for Mother’s Day weekend (May 10–11).
Among the standout destinations:
Boulon Brasserie (French flair) and Azure at The EDITION (Greek elegance), both dazzling with ambiance and curated menus. Predalina offers coastal Mediterranean charm with shoppable dining. For gourmet flair, Mise En Place delivers a two-course menu, complimentary bubbles, and playful cocktail pairings.
Maestro’s at The Straz Center hosts a family-friendly brunch with carving stations and bottomless mimosas, while Timpano in Hyde Park blends rustic Italian with live music. The Pearl and Ponte round out the lineup with upscale tavern fare and modern American cuisine.
Reservations are booking fast — so act now to toast the leading ladies in your life with a meal they won’t forget.
Here’s an astonishing and lesser-known fact about Mother’s Day:
The founder of Mother’s Day later tried to abolish it.
Anna Jarvis, who campaigned to establish Mother’s Day as a national holiday in the early 1900s, grew deeply disillusioned with how commercialized the celebration became. She originally envisioned it as a quiet day of reflection and personal appreciation—not one centered on buying flowers, cards, and gifts.
By the 1920s, she was so frustrated with the commercialization that she actively lobbied to have the holiday removed from the calendar, even organizing boycotts and lawsuits against those profiting from it.

$60 Magic: Disney Unveils Summer Ticket Deal for Floridians

Walt Disney World is making summer a little more magical for Florida residents with a new discounted ticket deal starting May 18 through September 27, 2025.
The Summer Magic Ticket allows Floridians to enjoy all the parks for as low as $60 per day when purchasing a four-day pass ($240 total). For shorter visits, a two-day ticket is available for $210, and a three-day option costs $225.
Tickets do require an advance park reservation, but can be used on consecutive or nonconsecutive days, offering flexibility for summer schedules.
Whether you’re planning to visit Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom, this seasonal offer makes it easier — and more affordable — to experience the magic.
For full details and booking, Floridians can head to the official Disney website. With prices like these, park days just became a lot more tempting for Sunshine State locals.

Day 2 Diamond: Bucs’ Rookie Named ESPN’s Favorite Pick

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have struck gold again in the NFL Draft, according to ESPN analyst Ben Solak, who named third-round pick Jacob Parrish his favorite selection of the entire 2025 draft.
Chosen 84th overall, Parrish, a standout cornerback from Kansas State, is already drawing comparisons to fellow Bucs defensive back Tykee Smith for his aggressive play, zone instincts, and tackling.
Parrish is expected to slot into the nickel corner role that Smith held in 2024, with Smith shifting to safety alongside Antoine Winfield Jr. This move would allow both to be on the field, bolstering a retooled Tampa Bay secondary.
Parrish grabbed five interceptions over two seasons in college and showed versatility playing inside and out. With the Bucs’ knack for landing key talent in later rounds, this pick could prove another Day 2 steal by GM Jason Licht.
