Immersive Planetarium Show Sparks Climate Action
Tampa’s Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) recently launched “A Vision for Tomorrow”, a 54‑minute, 360° documentary in its new Saunders Planetarium & Digital Dome Theatre, running through August 31, 2025.
Immersive storytelling meets environmental urgency
The film transports viewers through vivid scenes showing how pollution impacts land, sea, and air—revealing forests under threat, plastic‑choked oceans, and changing skies—using vibrant, immersive visuals that blend art and science.
Each atmospheric segment finishes with a clear call to action, featuring QR codes linked to environmental organizations like American Forests and Water Mission, empowering audiences to directly engage with solutions.
Weekend screenings start at $18, and the timing is perfect for families, students, and anyone inspired to take action. MOSI frames the documentary as not just a viewing, but a wake‑up call—an invitation to dream of a cleaner, healthier planet and then help build it.
Bay Area Band Scores on Kevin Hart Show
Florida's new “no‑wake” law, SB 462, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis on July 2, 2025, makes it illegal to drive fast enough through flooded streets to create dangerous wakes. Local jurisdictions may now establish slow-speed zones in flooded areas, empowering law enforcement to issue citations for violations.
Co-sponsored by bipartisan legislators, Sen. Nick DiCeglie (R‑Indian Rocks Beach) and Rep. Lindsay Cross (D‑St. Petersburg) introduced the measure following constituent concerns after Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
SB 462 was folded into a broader transportation package, granting municipal and county authorities authority to define and enforce slow-speed zones during flood events. The St. Petersburg Police Department and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office have both expressed support, citing improved safety in affected neighborhoods.
This law aims to protect homes, pedestrians, and parked vehicles from water damage and roadway hazards caused by fast-moving vehicles during flooding.
Orlando’s Growth Surge: Who’s Moving and Why
Orlando is experiencing explosive population growth, adding over 1,000 new residents per week, a pace it’s kept up for six decades. From 2018 to 2019 alone, the metro grew by 2.4%, making it the second-fastest-growing large U.S. city.
Migration is the driving force, with 70% of growth from newcomers, both domestic and international. In fact, one in seven residents moved to Orlando since 2010—half from abroad.
Unlike Florida’s “snowbird” stereotype, Orlando’s new population is young (median age 37), diverse, and highly educated. Nearly 70% have some college education, and 14% hold graduate degrees.
Most new arrivals come from Miami and New York, part of a trend pulling residents from slower-growth areas, especially the Northeast and Midwest.
Central Florida’s appeal goes beyond theme parks—it’s a vibrant hub for talent, opportunity, and forward momentum.

Rays Aranda & Lowe Headed to All-Star Game
The Tampa Bay Rays are sending Jonathan Aranda and Brandon Lowe to represent the American League at the All-Star Game on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Aranda, in his first full MLB season, has emerged as one of the league’s most consistent hitters. After a slow July start, a three-hit game against Minnesota raised his average to .320, placing him fourth in the AL. He’s added 10 homers, 47 RBI, and an impressive .879 OPS.
Lowe, celebrating his second All-Star nod (his first in 2019), has powered the Rays with 19 home runs and an MLB-best 50 RBI among second basemen. His resurgence after a slow spring includes a 20-game hit streak, tying a team record.
The Rays’ dynamic duo will join baseball’s elite in Atlanta, spotlighting a franchise that continues to develop and deliver star-level talent.
